If one of the reasons for choosing a particular area is that your friend lives there, but you think you'll only see them once a month, then you could ashouldn't upive further afield and take taxis these and back if necessary.
The bus services in Poole and Bournemouth are pretty good if a little circuitous at times, and the local area is one that is blessed by several rail stations serving it. Taxi's shouldn't be neccessary too often.0 -
Hey, LL, I think large parts of Spalding can be pretty rough (as if it's so refined here) but I have never lived there so bow to the judgement of one who has. I have only really seen the river bit, which is nice but then, everywhere has its nice and less nice areas, huh? I am from a few miles but a whole county away, going southbound (love that Lizzy song)
Skeggy? Mud instead of sand! You can have the seaside, for me. I like fields... and what's wrong with flat, pray??? Hills are a waste of time and energy, imho.
How are you doing, now? I've been thinking of you.0 -
Getting there......
INtensive physio required. 2 a week for 10 weeks. Luckily the insurance should cover it.
Had my first two treatments last week. Pure torture. :rotfl:
Just done my neck exercises. Horrible - you can hear and feel all the little bones and discs "clicking and popping". Hey ho. Have had some blinding headaches but they seem to be easing a bit now.
Just taking it steady.
I felt very nervous about getting in a car at first. Even as a passenger. I kept getting flashbacks and felt quite jittery. DS2 said he could see me flinching and "trying to brake". :rotfl: Thankfully I'm over that now. I Plucked up courage and managed to drive DSs car on Friday so all is well. We will car share for a while.
Hoping to try the bus this week - just into the city centre. If I struggle then I can get a taxi back. Just got to build up the activity levels now and work on the fitness.
Speaking of fitness, rather than join a gym I have decided to join a dance class. Got a groupon voucher, 10 lessons for £19 - bargain. Hoping to be fit enough to start when I come back from Belguim.
I have been invited to Aruba next year. Need to learn to tango......:rotfl:0 -
Ole! Watch out for those latino types, LL... or maybe they should watch out for you, once your neck is better. You take care, now. Sxx0

That's good news. Fingers crossed.0 -
AC, good news on the unexpected viewing.
I don't really have anything to add to what others have said - stay realistic and maybe broaden your search for your new home. We are renting and I think that was definitely the best plan as neither of us had lived anywhere like this before.
Unfortunately, as neither of us has a job at the mo, we can't afford to buy here, but there's no rush for that, this cottage has good neighbours and an amazing view.
However, I think maybe the nighbour's cat has been reading this thread about my love of wildlife, as he has started bringing me 'gifts'. I'll spare you the details, but he took offence the other day when one of them went straight into the bin!!0 -
Thanks again folks
Another viewing sat afternoon also . I'm just being realistic and laid back about it all TBH . If someone offers £380,000 I would seriously have to consider it . I expect nothing , so we'll see .
I love cats . I had an indoor cat , but don't want another one for the reasons you mentioned Betty0 -
Our cat spent a happy evening torturing a moth......
Looks like we might be getting another one, too. A small half starved flea ridden moggie has been appearing in our garden. Won't let us near him but we left some good out yesterday and he condescended to eat it. :rotfl:
I fear I might be turning into a mad cat lady.
Good news about Saturday viewing. I'm supposing too early for feedback on last nights.
Anyway two viewings - it's looking promising.
I've not viewed anything recently, nothing since the car crash, will wait till after Belguim.
I'm monitoring a couple on Rightmove but there's nothing that is really calling to me.0 -

Hey AC, LL, Bettyboo, all,
LL, you have a long way to go to catch up with Mellymoo; if you like, check out her stray? kitten thread. She excels at telling tails of her tiggers' and dogs' antics and, especially, conversations. She has a real gift, imho.
Best of luck with the viewings, AC, hope all have a good day and that you are on the mend, LL.0
