' we discussed that you would hear offers from£350k.
However my advice is to keep the same asking price.. '
AC, I don't quite understand your angry reaction.
Isn't he just recording what was said in your discussion?
I.e.
Some people will try it on with ridiculously low offers.
You will 'hear' such offers.
You don't have to consider ('listen to') such offers.
He agrees to keeping same price, e.g. £400k.
I don't read his letter as saying reduce price.0 -
Tuesday : I just cannot understand what Dexters are playing at.
He took up an hour of my time ( I really liked the guy).
When I am showing him the panic emails I received from chase Buchanan ( reduce price to £365k), he couldn't understand it .
He said £400k , maybe £415k .
We both agree that Ti shouldn't listen to silly offers.
Then, the letter arrives ' you will listen to offers of £350k'
No I will not !
Quite simple really : ' we value your property at£400k..etc'
Is what he should have said . Plain English
When I spoke to him on the phone yesterday , he couldn't wait for me to give my notice to chase Buchanan and start straight away, with the marketing etc .
If I say something in person, I do not twist things around to suit me in writing . I fully understand its a guide price and he would put it on for £400k.
If it doesn't sell, he could look at the initial letter and say 'you are willing to hear offers of £350..etc' which I am not .
Then my place is stuck .
Hope you now understand0 -
Unless the part of the letter you have quoted is out of context, which I cannot believe of you, AC, I also read it that they expect offers as low as £350k, but what do I know?
At the risk of being put on the naughty step for the rest of the day by LL who, imho, is the only exception to this rule, I have yet to hear of an EA who has earned the crystal mark for plain English. Don't let her hit me, OK?
Estate Agentese is, imho, an entirely separate dialect to plain English; I would go so far as to say it bears little relation to its root language. While we are all familiar with gems like "compact and bijou" (see what I did there?) can you think of anyone else who uses words like "affix"?
There are a whole host of them on here:

And I thought you might find this useful for when you come to buy, or maybe it could help Anna?

I hope, if nothing else, the first one raises a smile. If you really don't like real flowers, how about looking on freecycle/freegle for some fake ones? Made well, they can appear quite realistic. Just a thought.0 -
Oh well..
Bored of the estate agent situation , so I'll just move on thinking how to escape . I just need to go .
Stopped eating crisps since last Thursday . Just making attempts to eat less and see how things pan out .0 -
My brother visited me yesterday . He thinks we should buy a place between us . Obviously I am not keen on that idea.
I think steptoe and son has run its course.
Just received an email from your move ( the guy that never showed up.)
He claims that he has a couple of first time buyers who may be interested , and who have been financially vetted by the finance team.
He noticed my property has been reduced.
Something just dawned on me:surely the people he mentioned, would have found my priority on chase Buchanan website. Another crock...
I feel mellow today , and apart from tidying up at he weekend , will do nothing0 -
Good morning, AC! Good morning all!
Glad you are feeling mellow, man  Do you actually want to entertain the idea of living with your brother again, ever? Well, then.
Right, AC, GG, Anna, Bettyboo, CEW, everybody, y'all, altogether now, in the key of L:
Ahem. Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, dear LessonLearned, happy birthday to you.:bdaycake:_party_:grouphug::dance:0 -

AC, I hope you will not mind this digression but I don't want to post this on the correct board in case people are horrible to me.
