  • Thanks Wendy.:)
TBH , I think the adrenaline , the shock I had when told , and the normal never say die attitude we all have is what kept me going.
Going back to June last year for example: it was one of the hottest days of the year/ I'm wearing a suit/ and I'm running the place solo for a week( or so I thought). I was breathless. The specialist wasn't there, but his understudy made sure I had to stay in hospital that day. I refused her time and time again, but in the end gave up.
I feel less tension now . Just need to be settled. .
Then I've got the challenges ahead.

Shame you can't change your dentist.,who sounds robotic and inconsiderate.

    Thanks again AC.

We are badly let down here by most medical services, but finding a new dentist is high up on my list of 'things I have to sort but I'll have a break until the New Year'.

PS In my defence, I have so far worked my way through six possible replacements.
  • Same weather here LL .
I'm trying to think of getting something quickly , so I don't squander anything. Then again , I'm on a sabbatical , so if it doesn't work out , I can just move somewhere again. Obviously , I can't do London .
I've just got to focus .

You have 6 months so no desperate rush. Take your time to get the right place. Moving again will be unsettling for you and expensive.

  • You're right enthusiastic.
After a bit of a discussion and thought, it looks like I'm better off leaving the granny furniture in the flat.
Moving my stuff from storage, then moving it again would be awkward and expensive.
I'll probably go to big yellow storage and take out one of my basses and small practice amp.
We'll see how the discussion goes tomorrow and next Tuesday
  • It depends on how much it would cost for removers AC. It would be cheaper than London prices. For 6 months storage at £50 per week it will cost £1300. If 2 lots of removal costs are cheaper than that it is worth getting it out. Removing from storage is cheaper than from a flat/house. Good choice on flat rental and I am glad you managed to get one below £1k.

I have just opened national savings income bonds for my husbands pension lump sum so that might be worth looking at so you don't need to split your sale proceeds. 1% and it will pay you a monthly income and is instant access.

The NSI Bonds are a very good idea for short term, and the interest although miserly will at least pay for the storage costs!

AC, as regards banking the Co-op has a branch on Poole High St (possible £150 switch offer if still on when you leave NW).

There is another matter for AC to sort out, and that is state benefits, there must surely be something he can claim even if only short term or to keep up NI credits?

It's an area I have little or no up to date knowledge of so can't give any useful advice here, anybody?
  • AC. Definitely.....agree with state benefits.

Even if you don't wish to claim job seekers or whatever it's called these days, at least make sure you keep your NI contributions up to date.

That could prove crucial for your pension further down the

Absolutely. Funnily enough we did ours yesterday! Very easy to check on the gov.uk website. I'm behind with mine but have a minimum of 2.5 years to catch up. I can take longer but may get less at the end.
