Oh, I wonder if that's the one I looked at? It was lovely and bright and modern :T.

It probably was. The peregrine :)
  • Went through all the kebab flyers, decorator flyers and found a letter from my g p surgery , telling me I'm due for another blood test.
Coincidence that I've got an appointment at st. Thomas's on Tuesday morning.:)

Cutting out (or maybe weaning myself off), lucozade , crisps and Pringles .
Oh, and wait rose bacon fries and cheese puffs or whatever they're called.:)
Did I mention mars bars ?
Mccains micro chips will also be going . Had them for so long.
Speaking of food, I must mention various cooking accessories:
As a single bloke , and a fussy eater(food racist),there are some items I will be getting when settled...
A new George Foreman grill . A toaster that cooks eggs as well believe it or not. Orange juicer. Not an expensive one that ,ends up being a fad and hardly used after a week. I have a small halogen oven. Too small to be honest . Purchased in an emergency because of broken oven, I o like it .
Good for about 2 pieces of chicken, but there are times I swore after being burnt trying to pick the chicken up , or turn it over.
Not sure if I really want to use a conventional oven again, as for some reason I don't trust them anymore . Plus they can be a so and so to clean.
There have been occasions of smoke around the kitchen. Yes really.
As I'm getting older, I need to keep my wits about me .
Had a look at Argos , and these things must be purchased :)

    Lots to do today .
I sent text to my brothers friend , asking me to contact him.
Told him a white lie about the removal date.Told him Saturday&not Thursday Hope he's not too cross.
Will look at harz's suggestion , a few pages back .

Will go to charity shop this morning. Shame there's no animal one around.
Doesn't matter. I have a box of coppers, and loose change. I may well find an animal charity shop and drop it in. Every little helps as we know.

    Today is packing .
One more boring /rutty weekend .
  • Good morning AC.

A new day and your new life begins.

Re those new healthy eating resolutions.

You're right a good place to start is to cut out the worst of the junk food. You might find you get a withdrawal headache so maybe be kind and reduce first for a few days rather than going cold turkey.

Drink plenty entry of water and fill up the fruit bowl. Some good quality chocolate for a little treat so you don't feel too deprived. And nuts and seeds for little snacks.

Try to eat good quality protein - will fill you up longer than sugary carbs.

Cooking for one can be a bit of challenge. Eating alone is not much fun.

A table top oven and a Forman grill are great for single portions. If you can add a wok (healthy stirfries) and maybe a small slow cooker for casseroles, soups etc

If you do come to ever buy a Conventional oven then go for a self cleaning one. If you inherit an oven when you buy your forever home then get an oven cleaning company in every so often. Worth every penny;). I hate cleaning ovens and windows so i simply sub contract the work out. It doesnt break the bank.

When the dish is appropriate - i.e. Slow cooker meals etc then just cook the normal receipe quantity and then freeze the remainder into portions for meals for those cba days. Healthy ready meals.;)

And yes I know this is an MSE site and it's all about saving money but I honestly don't see a problem with the odd good quality ready meal. Definitely not the cheap nasty ones full of crap but a quality one from somewhere like Waitrose or M&S.

I love cooking and if I say do myself I'm a good book but even I allow myself a day off cooking every so often. I live with my son so cooking is fun. However if lived alone I probably wouldn't cook quite so much.

There's more to life than being tied to the kitchen.......:rotfl:

Raining here so an "at home day". DS2 is off so not quite sure of the agenda. Maybe some gentle tidying up and a spot of decluttering.

  • Thanks so much bubbly . Really does mean a lot .:)

I'm anxious now. Friends not around on the phone. (Phoned 2)
Brother is just hard work. His mate that was gonna do the move is unavailable. I texted him to tell him I need him . Must be working.
Phoned a couple of removal firms . The one Harz recommended are unsure about Thursday move . Others are busy.
So, reserved a room from big yellow storage in twickenham . They think I only need 50sq feet. Lovely lady , sounded like boyce's missus from only fools and horses. :) she has put my number out for a removal firm to move my stuff from here, to very near twickenham station.
Waiting for someone to call me.

    Carrying on packing .
Looking at maybe hiring a. Man to take rubbish I don't need which is bulky
And general stuff that needs to be chucked( dismantled glass shelving. Magazines etc)
    Aaaaagh
  • Things are beginning to gel.. Maybe .
Spoke to a 2man removal team. They are moving my stuff to storage in twickenham on weds morning.
I've just sent a text to my brothers friend , asking if he could do a rubbish run on Thursday instead of a move. He hasn't responded yet .
I think my brother may be dead. I asked via text , after calling him on his mobile .
Some sort of progress anyway .
  • Sounds like things are moving along for you AC. Are you just taking a suitcase down to Poole then on Thursday? Can you shove magazines out with the recycling?

Lovely mild weather down here in Cornwall today so hopefully Poole will be the same on Thursday when you move down. Hope you sorted the finances to sort out storage and removal and rent b and b for 11 days. That should give you enough time to sort out a short term let. Poole quay sounds lovely and a nice little holiday for you to get acquainted with Poole.
