  • No, if using brothers mate, find the nearest storage to where you are now to save transport costs. You move it further when you have your new place and the funds.

You may be able to spend some of the deposit money for move related expenses now that you have exchanged. This was mentioned some time ago, did you ask your solicitor?

Thanks for that triple choc :)
Interesting. So, just get him to drive to one nearby.
Silly question, but who delivers to my rented place in Poole ?

I didn't ask the solicitor anything .obviously forgot :o
  • I looked at Travelodge; Parkstone £34 a night, Bournemouth sea front £31 a night.

AC I just looked on bookings.com, they have an option to select accommodation that doesn't need paid upfront (though you may need to input your credit card details, it doesn't put a block on it). Only a few available for the dates I put in, but the Penn Hill Apartments in Branksome look very nice and around £675 for 10 days.

Alternatively if you do go for a pay-day loan (not to be recommended but needs must I suppose) - Sandbanks Hotel, bit of luxury for around £550.

As others have said, this is the start of the rest of your life. No more excuses, no more putting off to tomorrow. Set yourself the goal that from the day you move to Poole that's it - no more Mars Bars, fattening coffees etc. even if you're staying in a hotel, healthy eating us possible. Start as you mean to go on, you we it to yourself.

    Wow ! Thanks gally :)
    I'll look into this .
I have stayed at the shah of Persia in Poole a few times with friends over the years.
The latest one I used( I used booking.com ) the blue shutters north road . That's a b&b though. Great ,and highly recommended.used it 3 times.
    Thanks

Whoever gives you the best price when you're ready. You will have the time and a clearer head to plan it.

sorry nationwide wouldn't help you but unfortunately your credit history is going against you. Also you are not supposed to take out debt whilst on a dmp so the overdraft and credit card are against the rules but as you intend paying it all off within the month I don't suppose that matters much now.

I do hope this is the start of the rest of your life. Hopefully when you are happier out of the job you dislike and out of debt you can focus on being disciplined financially and address your weight and health issues.

I would make a list of expenses you need for first few days after completion so you know exactly how much you need. Travel down to Poole, cost of a few nights in a hotel and removal company deposit. Do you get paid between then and now? Maybe cancel all bills apart from mortgage and settle up after 21st so you can hold back a chunk of your pay to pay essentials.

  • Will start browsing later ( hotels etc)
My plan now: pack as much as I can .
Send my friend a few. Places to rent for 6 months- he will advise best one .
Phone up estate agent on Monday as mentioned.
I will phone chosen hotel etc after speaking to estate agent .
Will look at price of storage in Poole etc.
I do believe the best thing is to get storage in Poole a sap , on reflection.
Putting all that together, I should hopefully find out how long I need to stay at hotel etc. Then move into 6month stay.

    Thanks again enthusiastic:)
All bills paid, which is good . Just gotta avoid going up to overdraft limit. Will probably have to cough up the fare to Poole one more time
( finalising a place to stay).
If my brothers friend does the move, he will wait until the funds are in .storage costs, is something I need to look at .
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be paid by my employers before 30th, but you never know.
My Oyster card ( company season tkt) expires around the 20th .
I'll have to check. It's a gold card, which reduces the cost to Poole substantially.
    I think that's all :)
  • AC, I've posted only once on your thread but have been reading daily. Huge congratulations!

Everything may seem a bit daunting now but it will all come together.

May I give you one tiny bit of advice? If you do end up in a travelodge for a few days, and especially if you decide to extend it for another few days, book online. It ends up being significantly cheaper, no idea why.

Wishing you all good things xx
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Thanks ancient:) means a lot .
  • Done nothing so far. Having said that, I've been on the phone a fair bit.
I did go to nationwide, and had a coffee.
So, I'll put it down to another day of confusion :)
