    :j:j:j Wakey wakey AC!! :j::j::j

Gotta get organised. Need the make a list, then full steam ahead.

    Couple of things:
    Google reallymoving -10-things-to-do-before-your-moving-day
Try getting quotes through one of the comparison websites and also a national firm such as Pickfords, Bishops Move who will also be able to provide short-term storage and then haggle. We got an excellent deal on a long-distance move as they were relocating vans back to their bases after a previous job. If you are not moving moving on a Thursday or Friday, they would rather have their guys working and covering costs than idle and you might get a good price.

Re: Lettings. I worked for a Lettings Agents and you will need to pay your fees upfront to go through referencing. The deposit and first months rent will need to be paid before you get the keys but usually not until you have been through the application process that can take 7-14 days - so you have a bit of leeway. You will need to be upfront about your credit history and will probably need to offer to pay 6 months rent upfront. i agree with other posters about going into a Travelodge or Premier Inn for a short while if necessary as you may not be able to get into a new place in time for your competition date.

Exciting times! Wishing you all the best!

Whoo-hoo. Congratulations AC, can't believe how excited I am for you. Don't worry too much about DMP affecting credit references when renting. My youngest is on a DMP and when she had to move recently (renting) they didn't ask her about it, and she only had to pay deposit and first months rent the day before she picked up the keys. Although she did have to pay the reference fees ahead at the start of the process. Besides, I thought your plan was to pay off your debts, so strictly speaking you won't be on DMP then.
I think what was suggested about going into a good B&B, or finding a hotel deal, was excellent advice for a couple of weeks at least until you get your breath back. And who knows you might find the perfect property to buy once you are down there (although I still think you should buy a house and save yourself the management fees).
Right, off to paint the garden fence - oh the glamour of my life! Good luck, and please keep the thread going for a while at least.
  • And you are all still here ..thanks :)
Went to bed around 9pm last night . Had a great sleep..until 2.30am
Fair enough. It was solid sleep much needed .
Then of course, broken sleep and feeling unwell.

Had a glance at my local branch of nationwide( how docile am I ?)
I think it has a potential decision maker. 1 or 2 people sitting there, with a couple of children. I decided to go to Nero and get coffee first.

Today will be tidying and boxing things .

Trying to think straight ,regarding move/ storage/ b&b/rent
I will have questions : for example ,I f I find somewhere available on the 18th, can I just secure with a deposit and move in? Or do I have to go through checks which will delay the process ?
Is it best just to get my stuff put in storage in Poole presumably , and just put a deposit down on a b&b ? (I imagine the deposit wouldn't be too much) . Would it be best to pay storage in Poole on a weekly basis ?

Regarding telling energy/ water etc: I guess I tell them the exact day I go.
When I left my previous address n t l , never collected their box till the very last minute .

Regarding work: I have about 15days holiday not used .
The woman I spoke to yesterday , comes from a personnel background and in my mind should've been my boss once the previous one retired.
The HR guy is only in on Monday , so I assume the exit interview takes place. My boss( personnel)is back from hols on Monday .
When I spoke to the other lady yesterday , I let her know things she didn't
Being in personnel , she may have knew . Good thing is ,we get on really well, and she likes a good natter :)

    I think I mentioned previously , that I'm a walking gas balloon.
Unfortunately , I'm finding it much harder to fit in my jeans/chinos these days. Billy smarts circus wouldn't employ me at the moment as one if their tents .still, gotta remain optimistic.

My Geordie entrepreneur friend keeps insisting I either rent for rest of my life ..or buy a 1 bedroom and rent the other out ,meaning a work free lifestyle . I don't know . Apart from my dmp experience ,I have always been risk free and too safe .
Enough to think about for now :)

  • Just forced myself to hopefully see a manager at n w .
They'll decide if they will see me for 5 mins .
Waiting with ,babies / children underneath a tv
How sad have I become ?

Make NW your first job TODAY, and don't ask for more than you absolutely need bearing in mind that with your revised date you will have plenty of cash on 22nd at latest.

Today will be tidying and boxing things .
That can wait until all the IMPORTANT jobs have been done.

You will always have to go through checks first, it's very, very unlikely you will be able to move into a flat that quickly, so will need to think in terms of Hotel (not B&B) as I said before Booking.com, look for places that allow cancellation on the day and book in consecutive blocks. There is no need to move until completion day if you are putting your things in storage.

I know you mentioned using a friend of friend, did you also talk to the remover I posted a few days back? I would favour Poole ONLY if your friend is doing it otherwise local storage to your current location.

Forget this its dealt with, more things to deal with await you.

I prescribe more walking, and less visits to coffee shops.Lol.

Don't even contemplate going there, that might work in the north where I live, you'd need at least double your proceeds to do what he suggests on the south coast with any security. Friend, really?
