So we are both 'down' to 10mg. I have been on a ridiculous number of different doses over the last six years. !!!!, isn't it?
And sorry to lower the tone, but stuffingtons to being saintly to your boss.
So much for applauding your grown-up decision to move on. Perhaps it is time to blame the alignment of my furniture. I'm currently considering writing a screenplay about the demonic possession of a stairlift.
Didn't know the site turns a disguised rude word into !!!!0 -
Oh I'm no saint.......:rotfl:
And I'm no pushover, nor am I a doormat.
But I have learned how to deal with difficult and obnoxious people.
It can be very trying working with people with whom we have no natural rapport. Sometimes we may actively dislike them but still we have to spend several hours a day in their company. For our own peace of mind and sanity we have to make it work.
MY solution is to go on a charm offensive and win them over.
So, just as in any life situation where I try to look for the silver lining rather than the dark clouds,so it is with people.....I try and look to see if I can find some good in them.
AC. My suggestions were not criticisms - they are guidelines on how to diffuse difficult situations and how to make your life a bit more pleasant over the next few weeks until you can make your escape.
There's no fun to be had dreading work each day or having unpleasant encounters with your neighbours.
There is a house at the end of our street which houses a bit of a "problem family". Well the kids are babies so they are fine (at the moment but god help the poor mites when they start school). However both the mother and the father are beyond "rough" - we're talking real Jeremy Kyle material.
Both of them are as likely to punch you as look at you. However, I've won them over. THey have gone from glaring at me, to grunting when I spoke to them, to actually having a civilised conversation with me.

AC I just tried to look something up on google about negativity and it brought up a lot of witches spells and woo woo stuff so best I don't link to that and instead just write it out .
Some years ago I got a new job at work - promotion and a big payrise, but it meant I had to deal with a very negative person who sapped my will to live when I saw him approaching me. Someone told me to imagine a glass bell jar over myself which wouldn't let his negative energy affect me. I tried it and it helped but then I felt resentful that I had to 'hide' beneath a jar. So I turned it on its head and put the jar over him.
Every time I saw him approach I 'scrambled' Thunderbirds 2 in my head. Out it came from its lair beside the printer, complete with theme tune, and then had to fly up the office carrying the bell jar and drop it over his head before he reached me. Sometimes Thunderbirds aim was a bit off and he'd get clunked by the jar as it went over him. I know it sounds ludicrous but the whole scenario was so amusing it actually made a big difference to me and people commented on how well I dealt with his negativity. So where would Thunderbirds live in your office? Please run with the idea and try it out tomorrow.

Loving the Thunderbirds.......especially the theme tune. It's just so jolly and upbeat. As you say play that it in your head and it's bound to brighten your day.
Prednisolone.
My husband was pumped full of the stuff, literally. He had to have it intravenously, not pleasant...... unfortunately it wasn't very effective, any benefits soon wore off.
Alas nothing could halt the relentless progress of his illness.
I'm glad it has worked so well for both of you, despite the side effects it is a useful drug. Good news that you are both being able to reduce the dosage.
I know that we are not supposed to give medical advice so I won't.. However, have you looked at dietary methods to help reduce inflammation. Just google - there's loads of info out there.
Might help as you come off the meds.0 -
Don't want to hijack the thread but I put 'down' in quotes cos a year ago I had reduced to 5mg. Then flare after flare.
And really don't want to sound ungracious but my specialist subject on
Mastermind would be Alternatives to Steroid Therapy.
But thanks for the concern. And now back to AC and The Move.........0 -
Okey dokey.....just thought I'd throw that one into the ring.
I know AC has mentioned that he finds acupuncture and massage helpful so maybe he might also find things like dietary tweaks of use.
A beautiful day here. AC hope the sun lifts your spirits and you feel a bit better today. Hopefully it won't be long now.
Have googled some local gyms and am aiming to visit a couple next week.0 -
A beautiful day here too. A day for living at the seaside. Not long now, AC.
Hospital clearly trying to catch up, and have echocardiogram appt this afternoon. Just routine lifetime surveillance post-embolism. Last time they couldn't find my heart, but gave me a thorough battering in the attempt.0 -
On a Sunday, wendym? Wow.
AC, your thread is on the brink of its millennium... cue songs:

Smodlet - hospital in special measures clearly trying to tackle backlog. Scan done by someone for whom sullen would sound too cheerful.
Edit - sorry to occupy this significant space with a self-centred moan.0 -
Sorry you are having a bad time, wendym. I think your support is invaluable to AC, from what he has said. Wishing you both well.0
