In the 1980s, I went to lots of games (Highbury, Dell, Upton Park, etc.) and just paid a few pounds. I think that football is getting very silly especially as you can watch the games for free via other means lol.
Well they can charge that price because fans pay it - I suspect it will be a sell out - at the beginning of the week they had about 300 tickets left.

Ah good find!
OP, why don't you go to the Eastleigh game on Saturday and support the lower leagues instead?
Getting quoted £12-£15 for their tickets. They are near the bottom of the Conference Premier League (5th tier) as well! So about 1/3 of the price of Premier League tickets, which I would expect to be roughly correct!
They are actually just outside the playoffs - I watch them fairly regularly - decent standard & you get to stand right next to the pitch - which I like - they have just build a new stand which seats about 2k I think - no extra charge for that.

Just amazed that anyone would pay that much to watch something that is being televised live on Sky sports and is really a very ordinary match between 2 teams in terms of the premiership.
I watched Barcelona a few years ago away and I know I only spent less than £30 to watch them and they are/were a world class team (Ronaldinho could not play but Messi did. He scored 2 goals and, according to the waiter in the hotel, Ronaldinho was caught in a bro???? so was not allowed to play).
Come on p/ship be sensible and charge fair ticket prices.0 -
We watched the game on Sky. For the prices that Southampton were charging, I can watch ALL sport for free for almost 2 months live via Sky Sports; including Barcelona and Real Madrid, whom I consider to be the best 2 football teams in the world.0

Glad to see that fans are starting to create a fuss with regards Premiership ticket prices.
Good to see LFC fans starting the process. I was with them when we walked out of Anfield a few weeks ago.0 -
They charge that to keep the poor out.0

But not for them it's not. For their fans it'll be the game of the season, just like any other derby. You have to consider that you aren't their target audience. As a neutral the game is average at best.
I also disagree with you, the game will be a sellout.
FA cup tickets are generally better value. The West Ham vs Liverpool game recently was £25, less for season ticket holders/members.0 -

Premier League football has gotten too expensive. I feel very very sorry for people in (eg) Manchester who are priced out of their local team when coach parties of "London Red Devils" or whatever are coming to watch the game.
I remember the pay on the gate days, football was a bit more casual back then!!If my post doesn't appear to be serious, then it is not serious. So what? Kick back, relax enjoy life and have a little fun. Life is far far too short to be grumpy!!!!0
