Lanzarote- Puerto Del Carmen or Playa Blanca

Options
Hi Guys

Me and my partner who are both 27 and 30 are after a nice relaxing holiday for 10 nights, we don't go clubbing anymore and after a nice chilled holiday with a bit of mixture sunbaiting, we both love long beach walks and a lot of walking as well, we are after going on a couple of excursions like the south and north mountain tours, would like the beach and harbour walks.

We are wanting to go self catering so we can enjoy resturants but undecided which is better, someone said that Puerto Del Carmen is very busy and lively? is this right?

Again looking at going about June time.

thanks :)

  • Puerto del Carmen is the liveliest of the resorts but it's no Magaluf!

Playa Blanca is the most laid back, and quietest. Not much night life apart from some live music bars. Lovely long walk along the promenade from one end to the other. The beaches aren't long though. There is a harbour/port and a Marina. Great restaurants.

Plenty of self catering on offer in both resorts, although in Playa Blanca it is mostly in private villas, or there is a few complexes with bungalows and communal pools.

We've been going to Playa Blanca for years. Puerto del Carmen is too big and touristy for our liking.

I would also go with Playa Blanca. PTC was full of noisy germans when we went last October, couldn't go anywhere without someone screaming full pelt down the beach at their kids in german (don't have a problem with germans, just noisy people!).

There's a really nice Italian near the harbour in PB, can't remember what it was called but the food was beautiful, the service was good and it wasn't expensive.

If you love long beach walks then the Papagayo beaches beside Playa Blanca are superb. The Rubicon Marina area is also very nice and laid back, with a number of decent restaurants.

  • Playa Blanca any day. Both are touristy towns, but Playa Blanca is far less tacky.

    Hi

We went to Playa Blanca for the first time this year and it was lovely.

Usually we go to Puerto del Carmen every year (Matagorda), and it is nice and laid back also.

It's near the airport, and you can have nice walks there too.

There are a few bars and nice restaurants and shops to keep you going.

We have taken a trip in to the main town a couple of times and the shops are great, but the nightlife is too busy for us and we prefer Matagorda.

    Hope that helps.

We will be going back next year again.

Thanks guys :), also quick question as looking at holidays now, we normally go with either Thomson or Thomas Cook, who ever have the cheaper deal at what we like but noticed on Monarch they are going holiday packages and seem a little cheeper, are Monarch good to use as never used? thanks

    Hi

    We haven't used Monarch before...sorry.

The last couple of years we have gone with Jet2 and have been really pleased with them.
