Alternatives to Sky TV

Urgh just had a thought..the sky is through the dish so therefore would I need a Freesat and not a freeview box?

If you do not have a functioning aerial then yes it will need to be freesat.

"Humax direct" are normally good and are guaranteed or cash converters and the like normally hold stock.

If you want a smart box and can get Freeview then YouView would be the way to go. If on satellite then Freetime would be the one to choose. They both provide free smarts with month to month pay for user options if wanted.

A Freesat box would simply plug into your Sky wiring so nothing more needed.

A Freeview box would require an aerial - do you have one?

The refurbsided Humax freesat boxes are excellent. I have the HDR-1000s in place of a Sky multiroom box.

Thanks for the replies, I just wanted some kind of recordable freeview/freesat to replace the sky and to be able to use a nowtv box alongside.

Edited to add I have a dish and aerial.

Then the Humax boxes I linked to will provide that. You can decide whether or not you want Freesat or Freeview - providing you know your aerial works.

Don't you keep the sky box - if you cancel outside your minimum subscription period and simply use it to receive freeview ?

You keep it regardless of when you cancel and yes you can use it to receive Freeesat from Sky and not Freeview. However you won't have any recording features as that requires a sub.
