as a cost cutting exercise, ring SKY up first, tell them you are thinking of leaving as its getting too expensive and you need to look at cuts.

I did this last week, they took 15 a month off my package.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I have done this for years, but I now need to really cut costs. The less I have to pay the better even better if I don't have to pay anything but can choose to occassionally :)

  • You could try a months trial of Netflix, see if it's any good to you (or Amazon prime, but it's a bit of an upfront cost and encourages you to spend in other ways)

There's plenty of TV series to keep you occupied - I think my kids watch more netflix shows than they do on Sky
  • Hmm thanks, not thought about netflix, although don't you need a smart tv for that?

Not necessary to own a smart TV.

Netflix is available on multiple devices - https://devices.netflix.com/en_gb/

If you need to watch on a TV the cheapest way to get Netflix set up would probably be to use a HDMI connection to connect your PC/laptop to the TV.

If inconvenient, a Smart Blu-Ray player might be available for less than £30. Or there may be a special offer on Fire TV sticks or Roku Streaming Sticks that would also do it.

I've got Freeview in the lounge and Freesat in the back kitchen.
If you want to cut your costs there's plenty there to watch.

  • Thanks everyone, I am now looking for a reasonably priced Freeview + Smart digital recorder box.... Its a minefield :D
  • What about this?

It's a rebadged (BT) Humax DTR-T2110, should get Netflix (https://help.netflix.com/en/node/23951) if you wanted it.
