Aren't some buyers just plain rude?

  • Why is that buyers assume you will do whatever they demand.

On a UK listing I've been asked what's the postage to Japan, nothing about would I willing to send abroad. Or the other one is when you put down a high postage charge because of a heavy item and you get told that the bidder will be coming to collect, like heck they will!!!!! I'm not letting some stranger into my house!!!!

I know I sound a bit unreasonable but the rudeness of some people really gets to me, so I'm now inclined not to be overly helpful. And although I haven't had a neg yet, I'm sure it's round the corner and I'm not going to fret about it.

    Hi Patchwork Cat,

I have been selling on ebay since 2003. Looking at the discussion boards I have been amazed at the number of people complaining about items not arriving.

I have yet to have a buyer report an item not delivered. I think I know why. I do not use paypal who more or less guarantee to refund the buyer in cases of "lost in post".

Not saying that all claims are not genuine but I think there may be quite a lot.

And I have yet to have a rude buyer and only one who didnt pay- Lucky eh?:j

I suppose if I went into ebay as a living I would have to sign up for paypal but as for now I will just make do with cheques & postal orders (and polite buyers)

I must admit with the whole cheque thing I clearly put in my listing please allow 10 days for cheque clearance before item is dispatched. got stung once and that was enough. My greatest annoyance at the mo is I list things for uk buyers only (especially mobiles) and on 2 sperate occassions the winners were both from overseas and insisting I sent it to them anyway! I told them I would seek advice from ebay and they soon backed off.:T

    Hi hm71,

If its mobiles & from abroad its sure to be a scam anyway. I had a couple of these but I just sent them a message to say I was by-passing their bid & selling to next bidder.

If they were genuine the would not have bid in the first place. Only had one reply to say that she was broken hearted as it was her man friends season???? & would I reconsider if she paid me £400 postage to West Africa- oh, yeh.

Well one was an american, 1 polish, both offered to pay reasonable P&P to their respective countries, i just said very politely that they should not have bid , blah, blah.
your right about the scamming its becoming ridiculous, my mum always use to say if its to good to be true, then its probably s**t! and Its an idea I've stuck by.:rotfl:

I was selling my old amstrad computer last year and had clearly stated collection only as it was way to big and heavy to post. So first off I get some guy pestering me to post it to croatia and wondering why I said no unless he felt like paying over £100 postage. Then the guy who won its idea of organising collection was to email me at 9am saying "Can pick up at lunch today, ok?" Uh, no! Then left me Neg feedback saying I never responed to his emails (sorry if I didn't check them till the evening!) and moaned that I relisted it after a month of waiting for him to collect it even tho I refunded him fully!

Oh and the guy thats just scammed me on Reading tickets had the cheek to leave me positive feedback saying what a great ebayer i was!

So glad I have a sense of humour! :rotfl:

''[FONT=Arial, Verdana]you are a liar you received the cheque is just that the price you sold the item did not favour you that is why you did not pay the cheque in so you get what you want as for me i will abandon the ebay and open another f off''

I know the title is about rude buyers, but there are also a lot of rude sellers as well, who seem to take offence that you would want to ask a question about the item at all.

And that is indeed your choice, however you don't need to let them into your house, they could just come to the front door or garage.

We all allow lots of stangers to our houses, post men, milk men, paper boys, gas and electirc meter readers, couriers dropping off and collecting items, carpet fitters, plumbers etc. (not being sexists all the above could be female as well).

A mate of mine once won an item for a chap 5 doors down the road, but he still insisted on posting it as he'd specified no collections.
