Expired button on the competitions board

The expired button is only at the top of threads on the old look forum.
On the new look forum it appears on every post in a thread but apparently using it does not have the expected outcome of moving the individual post to game over but the entire thread goes instead.
It should either be like the old look forum and only appear at the top of threads or if it is on individual posts then only the individual post should be moving if it is used.

This is the source of the problems with the two regularly updated threads that are bouncing back and forth between the main forum and game over several times each month:

People using the new forum design are clicking their expired button because the competition in that post only has expired. But the entire thread is sent to Game Over.
Making these two threads stickies would immediately solve the problem.0 -
Agreed - this needs to be figured out and sorted0

I fully support the above comments.0

hi, i agree with thinking the two threads could
maybe be made a sticky,
it would help newbies & old-timers alike if they were
in the one specific place & couldn't be accidently expired,
it would also save a lot of time for forumites
pm'ing the board guides/mse team/mse staff
&/or whoever alike each time they are inadvertently
put into GO,
therefore helping/saving time for mse staff/board guides also.please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
just adding my support for this to be sorted
however as an additional comment - will making it a sticky actually keep it in the main competition time forum? I ask as last years advent thread was/still is a sticky and currently resides at the top of the game over board.0 -
Yes I agree, making these 2 threads sticky would solve the problem as would removing the expired button from the new style threads, whichever is easier.
Unless as pointed out by bluesooz - will making it a sticky actually keep it in the main competition time forum?
In which case remove the ability to expire comps in the new style forum.Wins 2022 March - Product Of The Year Goody Bag June - Baker’s Too Kit July - A years supply of Fruity Gum / Nutribullet Juicer October - Immune Support Supplements Dec - Green + Blacks Tasting Selection (no delivery, had £20 Amazon Voucher instead) / Halo Creative Nails Kit / Board Games Bundle / Essential oil & Gemstone Cards
2023 January - Devance Cosmetiques Hair Products /0 -
Well done to everyone who sussed this problem out. I agree that it needs to be sorted, and making the two threads in question into stickies seems the most probable solution.0

I'm not seeing why a comment / post even needs an 'Expired' buttonUEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0

As far as I know that was moved there by a BG when it was over (they didn't remove the "sticky" label), so even if being a sticky doesn't stop them going to GO they would always be at the top of it.
There was no problem with them when they were stickies in the past, they were only "unstickied" for the new forum "look" so people could get to new posts without scrolling past lots of unused stickies but not understanding that competition stickies were in regular use.0 -
I don't have a problem with this as I subscribe to the thread and it's always there in my user panel.
However, the thread is regularly being bumped now with no actual competition entries because of it continually being "expired", and it's taking up a lot of time for those volunteers who either mention it or try to do something about it. So either the button needs removing from the new look forum (which I don't use anyway as it's horrid), or only the OP or a BG can expire it.
I am eternally grateful to everyone who posts - to the comps board AND all the other boards. Let's make their voluntary job easier, eh?
