  • As well as HK Three give the same deal in Italy and Austria and a few other countries.

It is just like being in the UK and your free call allowance works - of course if you try and phone an Italian number when in Italy that costs.

    Hopefully this will spread.

I hope I haven't left this too late??

On Friday I will be taking apart in a charity car rally from UK to Corfu via the former Yugoslavia, can anyone suggest the cheapest way I can phone home? I have a locked Orange phone?

    Regards

Depending on your departure time on Friday, perhaps it's rather late for anything to get to you in the post.

Most of the main networks have very similar roaming costs now anyway; exceptions are 3's charges are a little lower; Vodafone has its Passport scheme, and O2 has an add-on called My Europe Extra

You might go for one of the global SIMs and ask them to send it special delivery. Choose one that doesn't cost a large margin over the credit in it. Roaming in Europe though, Sim4Travel has 25p/min for both landlines and mobiles, while other global SIMs are close to the Eurotariff for calling mobiles.

If you're busy getting everything else organised, I wouldn't worry too much, and just use Orange as it is, 38p/min outgoing, 19p incoming.

Looking in different places, it isn't clear to me whether Hotlink/Maxis rates to UK are 0.99 or 3.80 ringgits (16 to 60 pence) per minute

It will probably be cheaper to use one of those local SIM cards with either a calling card or a callback service.

sorry but I've had to remove your post as the link is stretching the page making it impossible to read so if you would like to replace your post without the link it would help, thanks.

    Hi guys
Could anyone please let me know which is easier in the Netherlands.
I need to make a call to let someone know when I arrive (to Netherland cell phone).
But is it best to use a phone there or take my mobile and try and make a call there - I am on Orange Dolphin. Do you need to buy special cards for their phones in Netherlands or can you use euro notes?
Thanks SO MUCH for your help!

Hi I am new to this site so bear with me. My husband if off to greece on business, we both have pay as you go vodofone mobiles and we also have a bt line. Now my question is, what will be the cheapest way to communicate,
bearing in mind if he receives calls in Greece he has to pay part of the call
charges. He does not use computers either. Be very grateful if anyone could come with some ideas.
