I usually say I am very sorry but they have been taken for a mug and ripped off by whoever sold them a suckers list with my name on it.:D

I've done that with the boiler room guys, but they are *very* slow to get my drift.

Sorry Glen, you have entirely missed the point of my response to gadgetminded. Never mind.

In which case, I also missed your point both then and now.!

You've confirmed that the phone number belongs to a home address with an English-speaking person living there who is willing to talk to random people who call them. That boosts the value of your phone number on the suckers list and ensures you will get more calls in the future.

Sure, they didn't get anywhere this time, but maybe the next person will have more luck. Just because someone refuses to invest in one scam doesn't mean the next one will fail. The fact that they know there's someone on that number who will engage in a conversation with them makes the number more valuable to fraudsters than the average.

If you don't want to encourage scammers to call you, don't say a word, just put the phone down (on the table, not the hook).

I've actually stopped getting these calls so maybe they complained to their number vendor?

How can this thread possibly still be going ofter post 8 quotes Deutsche Bank saying that precisely the situation described by OP is a scam - down to the exact bond, method of contact and minimum investment.

I've stopped getting these scam calls too. But I don't know whether thats because I have transferred my certificated share holdings into my x-o nominee account.

It's often the psychology in these sorts of scams:

OP thinks it's legit, comes here for advice, gets roundly rebuffed, gets criticised for falling for dupe, defends position by justifying legitimacy, gets criticised for falling for dupe further, further defends/justifies reason for falling for dupe, gets criticised... etc etc etc.

Luckily in this instance the OP has seen sense. Just look at those who were duped AND invested squabbling on the Los Pandos Vineyard scam thread....

We still hold a lot of certificated shares and I also have directorships, which tends to get you on these lists.
