I`m afraid wouldn't have a clue how to go about recording my own phone call.
Also unclear how this would help.
Disappointingly, been trying to contact this fraudline for 15 minutes and just a recorded message telling you are in a queue..0 -

If you had been using a mobile phone I think it may be possible to record your own call (though, I am not certain, and have never done so myself). The reason for suggesting recording the call was that it may have been useful evidence for anyone investigating the scammers. However it is not important if you cannot record the call.
Not sure what you can do regarding contacting fraudline. Sorry. They have an online tool but I understand that you want to speak to them in advance of speaking to the scammers again.0 -
Eventually managed to report the incident to Action Fraud.
I have spoken to them and Police but it seems that no organisation wants to be proactive in trying to catch the perpetrators.
I would have thought a prospective target would have been ideal in trying to catch perpetrators as opposed to an actual victim but seems not to be the case.
The Police said they couldn't become actively involved as no actual loss sustained.
I give up.0 -
TV stations have been covering scammers lately, and Watchdog always likes a new story. Maybe one of them would be interested in a sting operation?
Just a suggestion.Eco Miser

Went to a newspaper money section (Mail) so they could alert readers.
Details taken and said would be passed on to see if there was a story but heard zilch.0 -
Well done for trying.
As for the Police, they seem to exist merely to collect and collate crime info rather than to investigate or (heavens above!) actually prevent it.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

Report it to the FCA. They are running a list of firms they are warning about.
