Money refunded after emailing an official complaint and copying in CMC. Thank you do much for the advise earlier on in the thread.

Hi there,
I also was taken under the spell of the wonderful service being offered by Thompson Legals PPI re-claiming back 20 years & paid out the £499 on a Credit Card. Being told that this was a deposit & I would not be left out of pocket & rushed into signing & returning forms immediately.
Once they claimed back around £130 on a PPI claim, I then had to send 30% of that to Thompson Legal (which is the usual) & was told I must reclaim my £499 from The Claims Team.
I did all of this back in August and with constant calling the Claims Team I finally received a cheque dated 2 December 2016 for £344.21.
I called again to state there had been an error... only to be told that No, I had received the £499 less them money that had been refunded to me! I was gobsmacked & after a lot of waffle being given to me, I managed to get the lady (Rachel) to forward me a copy of their T&Cs via email. The T&Cs shows differently to what had been told to me by the original Sales Rep & the only thing that guy told me was "That I would not be left out of pocket", HOWEVER, I told them that I feel very much that The Claims Team STOLE MY PPI !!!
Their T&C form is very misleading & not in line with the Thompson Legal T&C form which clearly states that they will take 30% commission on any refunds.
Also, it is impossible to download or save the T&C form of The Claims Team, which leads me to believe that they dont want anyone to really read it through.
Apart from all the above, even if I did agree to this, they still took more than they should have as I only reclaimed £100 myself, I am awaiting a cheque for the balance but I will not be cashing any cheque until I have managed to get either my full £499 back or have a letter from the Financial Obnusman.
If you too have had your PPI stolen, please dont accept it, together we are stonger!

I have just called Thompson Legal about this & they are raising a complaint against The Claims Team, after all if I have to claim my money back, Thompson Legal will be the best people to take on my case!0 -
I have just called Thompson Legal to put in a complaint about this £499 refund problem & they seemed to take it seriously, so Im hoping they will sort it out as it is The Claims Team that are at fault, not them. However, following up on your comment about name changes, the answer service at Thompson Legal now says "Assureds Legal" !!!0

Are Thomson Legal note the Claimsteam.com. As they are still scamming people out of the £499.00 and when you try and cancel, you get the usual speech about why the money has not been refunded "the woman left" we will send a cheque, could be up to another 28 Working days. We will see if the money comes back, but it does not look likely.0

Yes I was weak and with hindsight should have checked them out first no doubt there.
I admit that I was taken in by the claim that even though I had previously received a PPI claim they said that I was not paid out the correct amount and was due more! All a load of lies.
One of my claims is still open and awaiting feedback which means it will never be closed so my claim is open and I guess I could not claim my £499 back without stopping the claim!
I emailed a complaint then received wishy washy feedback to say my claim was still open. This was followed by "the girl that I spoke to the week before had left". Yes I did see that on a previous post!
Contacted my Credit Card Company (Nat West) who after submitting a claim I received a credit for £499 whilst they await a response from these scammers!!
I feel really stupid as I normally approach things like this with caution and check it out.
Guess I was just distracted by the talk of big money pay-out against the small returnable fee of £499.
They just lie as they do not know that you are actually due any pay-out but prey on your vulnerability.
Thomson Legal / The Claims Team need to be shut down as they are scammers................0 -
Just been in touch with the legal ombudsman to report Thomson Legal.
Today I received a Pro-forma invoice from Thomson Legal requesting payment for a claim they haven't had.
The invoice was for £487 Inc VAT based on what an average claimant would receive with a cover letter stating it must be paid within 14days.
I called them up and got a really arrogant guy on the call who constantly talked over me and just kept saying I needed to provide proof that the claim wasn't successful (thought this was what they were meant to do for me???)
The invoice will not be paid and I will gladly see them in court due to their intimidation tactics and the fact they are stealing £500 from each one of their clients.
The legal Ombudsman are looking into them on the basis of the phantom invoice and bullish tactics.

I had to take the time to sign up to this forum and warn as many people as possible to simply hang up if you are contacted by these vile lizards!
Sadly I was duped into paying the upfront fee from a very clever salesman. I'm embarrassed to say the least that I fell for this garbage as I've always been weary of cold calls or just salesman in general.
Anyway to cut a long story short, I paid the upfront fee, was promised this was for 'special systems' to dig out old PPI claims I had already been paid out on successfully ( I did this years back directly with HSBC ). I waited 14 months to be told basically we can't find records for certain claims I had previously made.
Now Thomson Legal seem to get their leads from other claims department - the one who took my money was The Claims Team.
I rang them today ( The Claims Team ) to be informed the company is being investigated and is no longer trading. Now this customer service agent i spoke to at least had the decency to be honest with me as previous lizards had said 'you will get your refund in 28 days'
She advised me that in order to attempt to get your refund back quicker, I am to contact my Credit Card provider and dispute the transaction. I will be doing this once I receive my Credit Card statements.
I've basically paid £500 in which has simply gained interest charges on for 14 months for nothing. Do NOT get involved with Thomson Legal or The Claims Team. It's complete bullsh#t anything that comes out of their mouths and a great shame law allows such companies to even exist.0 -

I wouldn't do that, as that would be fraudulent.
You could potentially argue it under section 75, but it very much depends on what was promised in return for the fee.0 -
Update - After speaking to my credit card company and providing them with enough evidence of the Claims Team failing to refund me and Thomson Legal saying I was to receive no PPI money back, I have had the £499 returned.0
