Mattress advice please

Hi all, we used to have a La Romantica Madrid Mattress that we got from the bed kingdom, fantastic mattress but made us a little hot so we got the John Lewis Coolmax cover, which was OK but a little rough.
Unfortunately the cat went to the loo on the mattress whilst we were away for a night and it soaked through so bye bye mattress.
At that point funds were tight so we got a Silent Night 1000 Pocket Sprung essential mattress - which is way to firm for us -even though both mattresses were labelled Medium firm.
So, despite a memory foam topper (so were now to hot) its still not right and we want to change it.
Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced King size mattress for 2 slightly overweight adults - the bed is a fixed slat frame.

A John Lewis Natural collection mattress would be my choice.0

All bar one of those is over£1100 and some over£3,000 so out of my price range I am afraid0

I'm currently researching mattresses, and John Ryan By Design seem highly recommended in most places. What other independent makers are there doing similar things?0

we recently purchased 2 Single HYLLESTAD mattresses from Ikea, one medium and one firm. They have been an excellent choice. I could not comment on a kingsize but it might be worth a look. I normally suffer for weeks with a new mattress but these were great from the start.0

I have the same Silent Night mattresses! When did you get it? Mine softened a fair amount over the last year.Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. We got an IKEA Hyllestad double for my DD a few weeks ago and it is perfect. She wanted the La Romatica Venice which we have but it is very expensive. The IKEA one was £250 and you can exchange it once up to (I think) a month or 90 days after purchase. Then it has a 25 year guarantee. Other companies that say you can return a mattress usually only let you return it if it is still unused and in the original packaging. IKEA encourage you to use it and will still let you exchange which is great. Definitely won't be exchanging this one.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...
