Anyway, Ill be in Vegas for 3 days (to go Grand Canyon by car) then California (San Francisco) for 10-12 days so definitely not the cheapest place in the US (or anywhere). I will travel down the coast then flying out of SF.

its dependant on the route that you're taking, but if my memory serves me right, there are some mammoth outlet malls outside Palm Springs.

Ill be going down highway 1 and back up highway 101 - i think. But i have an open schedule so i don't mind a mini detour. Palm springs is a bit out of the way for me. Prob go as far as Cambria.

Petrols a lot cheaper but a pain to import.

I always use to stock up on levis and ralph lauren polos, esp if you can find an outlet or tj maxx and the ex use to stock up on mac cosmetics.

You're all making me seriously homesick!

I have a friend who has brought back everything from a hot tub to paddle boards. The hot tub was a real "steal". He is always scrupulously under the import limit though.

We visited them last last year when we stayed near Palm Springs. Not everything was as much cheaper as might be expected, though we weren't interested in the most expensive designer stuff anyway and so can't speak for that.

OP, depending on when 'soon' is, you might run into Black Friday. The day itself would be one to avoid (think of the televised excesses here last year and double it, plus unable to park anywhere near), but there are many bargains around the actual day, beforehand as well as even better ones aferwards.
    . . .I did not speak out

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me..

I've always found the Branded trainers to be the same in $ as they are in £'s

Worth pricing up some before you go then comparing.

I used to buy 2 pairs

I brought 3 pairs of the Asics Nimbus 15 once i realised they were so good  Each for around £55 compared to £135 if brought when they first came out. Im now on my second pair so want something as they will deteriorate at some point in the next few months. Cant find anymore for cheap price in the UK / online.

In my eyes, places like Outlet Malls are to be endured, rather than enjoyed - thankfully this year, Mrs Cat didn't play the 'batter the credit card game' as she wasn't looking for anything specifically and she wasn't going to buy stuff 'for fun'.
I can recall her saying that the $$/££ exchange rate this time made it a lot less attractive than previously.

A very good way to compare prices is to use Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.

    Leatherman Wingman.
    UK. £38.62
USA. $29.60 (about £19.75) Price inclusive of sales tax of 6%
I tried this myself before I saw your post, and then noticed that amazon.com will send it to UK for about £8.55, so total amazon.com delivered to UK is around £27.85 - a third cheaper than amazon.co.uk price!
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
