    i really don't think many women would deliberately get pregnant by a man who wasn't already living with her and willing to take on financial responsibility for her family.

    single mums get a tarring on these boards. most single mums were in a solid relationship and their children were wanted and probably planned. it's not their fault that the relationship broke down, and you can't really expect the absent father to be earning enough money to keep 2 households. he could of course offer to have the children while the mum works, if both parents can find jobs that don't overlap - but how many men do take on 40+ hours a week childcare? not many - yet it's the women who do all the childcare getting criticised - doesn't make sense!
