id just love to know how on earth she found 2 jobs for 2 kids aged 18 that were unskilled for the sum of £360 a week????i worked as a supermarket manageress for all the hours god send and earned only £300 a week and then got taxed and insured on that,im sorry but the programme was misleading in some ways i thought, most school leavers and kids that age are only ever offered job minimum wage or below, perhaps i should contact her and ask her to find me a £360 a week job perhaps id be better off then lol
    It`s getting to the point

actually, i just thought - why on earth did anyone agree to be on the programme.... you wouldn't want to be made out to be a total scrounger... money must have changed hands, mustn't it?! that would really really annoy me!

I seem to recall their 'payment' was that trip to the zoo in the minibus.
  • It is endemic of this Labour government that has focussed all of its policies on the number of children in a household rather than bringing attention to the way the children are brought up.

They have thrown billions at the consequences of social breakdown that it becomes an incentive for people to lead their lives in order to attain some of this money. When there is incremental amounts given in extra child benefit and tax credits it is small wonder that those who live in the margin will have more kids to get more money, without any thought of their ability to look after those kids.

Single parents will have more kids as it means there is no compulsion to find work. Parents will live apart as living together means less tax credits. Kids will be pushed into state care if the parent gets a job as they will pay for child minders, but aren't inerested if the parent stays at home with the kids.

The losers in all this are the people that really need the help. They get painted with the same brush as the work shy and !!!!less, and have less money as a result of able people riding the gravy train of benefit cash they have no right to.

When I want more money, I take on additional responsibilities, or do a course to improve my skill set, then ask the MD for more dosh

i completely understand your point, but i can't blame the government for people choosing to abuse the system in this way. i blame these individuals, not the system. blaming the system somehow removes them from having responsibility for their behaviour....

The whole problem with programmes like this is that he has now become a minor "celebrity" where we live. I was at work but DH deliberately didn't watch as he values our TV and it wouldn't look so attractive with a big boot hole in it:rotfl:
This berk and many others like them will never earn an honest living they don't give a tom tit what others think. I fail to see why splashing him all over prime time telly (and the local and national (gutter)press where the furore initially started) will "force" him to see the "error of his ways" and go and do a worthwhile job:confused:
The whole benefits system favours scumbags. Honest people in genuine hardship, or with disabilities are penalised. Every day,we read about someone or other conning the social out of sometimes hundreds of thousands of pounds. How do they pay it back? at £5 a week.!!!!!!!

    AAAAnd breeeaathe...... rant over:D

Sorry but I do not like the generalisation you make about single parents. I know a lot who work. Its worse when there are two parents who dont work imho!!
All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]

I think robin does say that SOME single parents are manipulating the system to their financial advantage, whilst those single parents who are genuine are being 'tarred with the same brush'.
