Struggling to sell my car

Hi everyone,
I guess I should sound optimistic, but I am really not happy trying to sell my car to dealerships etc and not receiving even a reasonable amount for the car. I have had several valuations from autotrader etc and therefore I can the asking price is reasonable, but I don't know why they are reducing the price so much. I have also listed the car on gumtree and autotrader to try and sell it, but not received much attention. What am I doing wrong, how can I sell it? For the quality of the car and how well it functions etc, this should have been a non-issue. But sadly, this is not the case. Any help, any advice?
If you're struggling to sell, it's either overpriced compared to similar cars, or your advert is !!!!.
Try starting a new thread in the main forum, too.0 -

What car is it? How much is it listed for? Give us the text of the ad then someone can post a link from autotrader.0 -
Was waiting for a new thread to be started, but just in case one doesnt appear, something that hasnt been mentioned....
One thing that very much makes me skip an advert is if the reg number is obscured in the pictures, not sure why sellers do this, maybe the think its some kind of security issue.
I always like to check out the online MOT before compiling a short list to go and view, CBA with the extra time effort in trying to find out a concealed reg so I can do that.
Having said all that, non selling cars (IMHO) are usually priced wrong...eg, old hobby horse of mine (sorry), a seller adding a ridiculous premium to an older car due to it having very low mileage for its age, not realising that this could cause issues with the car.0 -
Last time I sold a car on Autotrader I spent all day on a Saturday cleaning and polishing. Took lots of pictures - as many as AT would allow. I priced the car £500 less then similar cars being sold privately and it was sold by the Tuesday. I still came away with £1500 more then WBAC/Part ex were offering. You price it right and it'll sell.0

Really difficult to give if you don't tell us the car, and the price!
But you're taking Autotrader 'valuations' (advertised prices?) as gospel - just because someone advertises a car for a price, doesn't mean it sells at that price. And just because Parkers or whatever says a car is worth an amount, doesn't mean that your car, with your options, in that colour, in your area, will get that much.
See what other similar cars are going for, and help us out with some examples...0 -

Autotrader gives valuation prices for your car when you list. Pretty much works of fiction from what I've seen previously. Ebay is fairly good to get an idea of values if you look at previously sold carsRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
The last three cars I sold were from my front garden with a For Sale sign in the windscreen. They were all sold within 48hrs. In fact one was sold the same day!0

A month you say? I have a Hyundai Coupe for sale and have the same issue, i agree the paid sites are not always the best options, i paid autotrader and got not even a single response in a week and it was priced according to their own sites valuation. For certain cars you will find users looking on different sites, for example younger drivers will be searching more on social sites like fbHi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
