Liverpool Airport 'Stopping Fine'

Hi guys,

Wish I'd have spotted this website earlier great advice if all a tad overwhelming :)

I recently picked my girlfriend up from Liverpool Airport, her flight was delayed and meant to arrive at 10pm but she got in at 9.40 so was early. If anyone knows the airport there's a parking/drop off area which charges even if you're there a minute, and within two minutes walk you're on the main road out so she decided to start walking towards the roundabout where you can turn round and avoid the rip-off parking zone.

She knows we can't stop on a roundabout so when I got there she was waiting near the entrance to one of the long stay car parks and I literally stopped for 30 seconds to put her bags in the boot and we got in the car and drove off, no traffic around us, no obstructions.

A week later I got the letter from VCS saying I'd breached the terms and conditions on which the drivers agrees to be contractually bound upon entering the site etc.....

They have three photos of my car, and one of me and my girl loading the bags. I since went to Liverpool Airport and there are NO warning signs saying 'controlled zone' ahead etc. but literally two 1 metre signs either side of the road (not lit either) with the usual 'NO STOPPING' sign and a load of jargon in small print which how the HELL we are meant to read that at 40mph at 9.40PM at night is beyond me!

What are my chances of appealing? I copied and pasted the template appeal and sent it off as the 14 days were up today.

The signs literally are at the point where the red lines start, no warning and how again we are meant to tell red from yellow lines at night under streetlamps is beyond me.

So I was meant to drive round and round the roundabout (as I can't phone obviously, and can't stop apparently) and SHOUT to my girlfriend that she has to walk back 400 yards towards the parking zone so I can PAY for the privilege of picking her up???

I went the next day, took photos of the signs, and the driver sat off in his van videoing these 'offenders' (He didn't want me to film him, how ironic?) and then I went to the airport zone where I found TWO airport vehicles illegally parked in Coach Zones and on Double Yellows in a Bus Lane, I again took pics of these too, and three security guards came over and tried their best to intimidate me, I told them I'd be reporting their vehicles and laughed and said 'What exactly are you three going to do?'

Disgusting behaviour from what used to be a great little Airport for our city, now it's all about greed!

Any thoughts guys?

Bri.

can you appeal ? - YES

will they refuse it ? = YES

will they offer the IAS ? = MAYBE

will the IAS uphold your appeal ? = NO

will you have to go into IGNORE MODE for 6 years like thousands of others who have similar issues at JLA and RHA ? = YES

read parking pranksters blogs on this sore subject

and use the search to find dozens if not hundreds of other JLA cases

if any court papers turn up (not debt collector letters) then you need to come back for more help

ps:- read this RHA one for starters, then find JLA LIVERPOOL ones

  • that great little airport is charging VCS £25,000 a year for permission to drive around taking photos and sending invoices to people , there are multiple postings on here , pepipoo parking prankster , inc all the arguaments about this being land that comes under bylaws (no private parking companies) google the words VCS JLA and read!

due to the multible flaws in there system they will not attempt court , as it will all come out

have a good read , then return to ask more questions if needed ,

READ MORE BEFORE REPLYING TO THEM , at present do not reviel who was driving , DO NOT ring them
  • HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU PAY
I have read that the only charge by private ticket vendours that can be applierd ,is that of which they would have gained from being in the car park for the excessive time .if this is so then anything over minmum is surely unfair and not appliable .
  • there are a million posts on this subject , just search the words JLA and VCS on this , many other forums or even google

looking briefly at the legalities of the charge

is this a public rd , or does it come under airport bylaws ? , or is it a con,

the 3rd option rates highly , as VCS don,t want to take any cases to a court.

You say 'our City' so i presume you live in Liverpool, in which case you can't help but have known how strict they are, and what was going to happen to you. Stories like yours have been in the local press and radio regularly for years now.
Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

In Reply to Sailor Sam, not at all! I actually don't use JLA very often and the last time I did these restrictions were'nt in force hence my probelm.

An update guys, I have ignored letters but now their 'legal' team have written to me saying they will enforce a CCJ or maybe even recovery?

    Can anyone advise?

yep, read the advice given to similar posters in the last few weeks about these new kids on the block (their so called legal team or debt collectors) for the same site

I doubt it says they will enforce a CCJ, it wont have been to court yet and there wont be any CCJ either

for a CCJ to happen, they have to take you to court, you lose, then you dont pay the judgment in the time given by the judge (maybe 28 days) - only then will a CCJ happen and only after that they they continue to ENFORCEMENT and RECOVERY

so if you lost and paid promptly, that would be the end of the matter
