Giving Landlord notice

Check the Scottish schemes to find which one holds it, and then check that scheme's process - they will have a website with guidance.
In Eng there is no requirement to mention it to the LL - he should just return the deposit or propose deductions if he wishes, but it does no harm to ask the LL what the process is and/or what the LL intends to do about a check-out inspection.0

Check the paperwork you got when you first moved in. Similar to England and Wales you should have received the prescribed information telling you where your deposit is registered and how much is registered.
Whenever I have left a property after agreeing (or not ) with the deductions I have just logged into whatever scheme was used, using the details on the prescribed information and claimed my deposit back. Touch wood, I've never had to go to arbitration yet. ) with the deductions I have just logged into whatever scheme was used, using the details on the prescribed information and claimed my deposit back. As G_M has said, there's no need to mention the deposit to your landlord when serving notice. You might want to add something about arranging a check-out inspection though.0
