Giving Landlord notice

Does someone have a link for a letter template for handing in notice to vacate to my landlord.

I have to give notice for the 24th Oct to end on the 24th Nov, should I send it sign for or just first class post?

Send it TODAY 1st class with **free** "proof of postage" from any post office: Also email if you can. Do NOT leave it until 24th. Do NOT send recorded-signed-for.

When did your tenancy agreement start, and how long was the fixed term?
    Was an end date specified?
How long are the rental periods?

Started on the 24th for 6 months, I have been there now for 2 years and 5 month. (Scotland, not sure if that matters)

Yes it matters that you are in Scotland. You either have an Assured Tenancy or a Short Assured Tenancy which are completely different from an Assured Shorthold Tenancy in England and Wales and cannot be ended in the same way. The advice given by other posters relates to AST so is not relevant to you. So firstly which type of tenancy do you have? An AT or SAT?

Secondly, what did your tenancy agreement say would happen after the initial 6 months ended?

I have a AST, after 6 months I must give a months notice to be received before my rent due date (24th of the month).

You live in Scotland therefore you CANNOT have an AST. You either have an Assured Tenancy or a Short Assured Tenancy so which is it? Were you given an AT5 form before you signed your tenancy agreement?

What exactly does your tenancy say will happen at the end of the 6 months? Can you quote it verbatim please?

Sorry I meant SAT (Short Assured Tenancy) lol, Yes I recall that form. I will check at lunch when I get home for the exact wording.
