Lol, MSE solution, put an ordinary knife in a mug of hot water. Works just as well and will save you £20;)

    Really ?

    Such a convoluted solution.

My way is much easier, and does not require the additional purchase or use of a superfluous item of equipment (ie the mug) that then needs drying, putting away etc. :p

Although this is true...it doesnt clearly solve the problem of what to buy someone who has everything,or at least very little needs except something to open on christmas morning.

I need to buy my sister and bil a present...I have no idea what...for the past few years we have gone with gift experiences/theatre trips/meals out etc but the list has now run out of suitable things....they are affluent and as such really dont need or want anything and I really have tried going down the route of "no gifts for us"...but my sister seems adamant on an exchange at christmas...
We have also done cheese boards and cheese vouchers, countless photo frames,molten/jo malone gift sets....wine and even a history of their house

my budget is £100 throw some ideas at me peeps....
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Thank you, I am ok pretty much; I hope I feel better once I have Hugo. It was OH's idea to get him because I was getting upset about not having any purpose in life. I used to feel that I had a purpose when my kids were small and I was taking in unwanted small animals but now they've all died and my kids are grown up its horrible to feel that if you die no one would notice much that you weren't there :( Silly I know but I'm the kind of person who likes to feel needed and relied upon :)

Evangeline even though the kids have grown up your still their mum. They need to know that you are there when they need you. They love you very much. So you are needed. And what about DH he loves and needs you too. He needs to know he has your support, love and care. So try not to think that you are not needed sweetheart.

Have you thought about volunteering with a local charity, this can be very fulfilling x

Yes - I sometimes use one when the butter is straight out of the fridge.

    It works like this:

    1) Open cutlery drawer
    2) Remove any knife
    3) Put said knife in the steam of a boiling kettle for a few seconds
    4) Scrape cold block of butter with steam-heated knife

    Alternatively, for step 3)

3a) Put said knife under hot tap for a few seconds, then dry

Voila - you have a heated butter knife at an MSE cost :D

That's the very model I have, it's never needed any servicing and never let me down :)

Such a wild start to the day and it's getting wilder. Already popped out to QD for their 9 roll packs of Andrex, 2 packs for £6. They are the Puppies on a roll so are smaller than normal rolls. I am fairly well stocked now but if some freebies pop up ........... :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope the sickies are ok and no worse today.

bubbs, how are you feeling and what have you eaten this morning?

FC hugs to you sweetheart for your treatment this week, hope you'll be ok. Give the kids a hug from me x
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

Off to do some baking now. Spent a very lazy day so far, sprawled on the sofa, surfing the Web.
Thanks to mhoc ( I think ) for the Amazon cat food post. Managed to get some, and ordered 5 items to get the 15% off on top of the £3 vouchers. I also found the Purina kitten biscuits. 4x800gram for £8.60 after the discounts, really pleased as they are £4 each in the supermarkets.

I feel your pain, every one on my list fits this description, affluent and impossible to please.

Can I assume you have looked at deal zippy for ideas - things and events taking place in their area?

activities might be the safest route to go down - ones we have really enjoyed have been the Holmfirth vinery with afternoon tea (they also do overnight stays in very posh spa hotel)
also a cruise along the Forth under the red bridge.

what about National Trust membership or English Heritage, depending on where they live or RHS membership if they are gardeners?

    couples spa day?

also there are companies that deliver a gourmet item every month eg chocolate or wine?

as for your OH, I have the same problem but a few times I put together a magical mystery weekend with a nice hotel, meals and activities mostly using groupon and living social - so he gets a gold envelope with an invite in and date to mark on the calendar.
“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”
