  • Just bought 2 x £100 coins on eBay in flash sale - cost £100 + £5 postage each so £210 total, but then £42 taken off for flash sale - worked out as £168 for £200 in legal tender!

Might be bit pricey for some but worth considering. Oh....and 210 nectar points!

yes this is a really good one for under 18s

they get a small amount of interest on their current account and can get to practice online banking and banking via their app.

the best bit is that they get a savings account with a WOPPING 3.5% interest and can put £100 a month away in it - ideal for encouraging them not to spend everything they earn.

(don't forget she will need to complete an R85 - assuming her income is below the tax threshold ) - so she gets interest paid in full
Thank you very much for the advise!
By the way, she is only 12, and she doesnt have any income (cleaning bathroom- counts? :D )

oh yes cleaning bathrooms is def an evil job and she needs paying for it - any of the vile jobs eg kitchen floor scrubbing, changing beds, bathrooms, oven cleaning, emptying cat litter trays, dog washing - all need payments :D:D

but its very good to start them young to be able to manage money - its a very complex thing now

when my youngest was at college when he managed to save a thousand I made him do a 5 year savings bond which at the time had good interest rates. He had 2 of these. These bonds have just matured and this money is now his safety net money - he is now working out in Hong Kong - no way would we ever have guessed 5 years ago how his left would have turned out.

My shop was actually targeted against M as all three flavours looked like they should work £7 v £3. Unfortunately only one of the flavours compared and it picked up a 2 for £4 instead of 2 for £3.
