Sat 17th/Sun 18th October - what small DFW things will you do this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending! :money:

  • Good morning everyone :D
    Awake since 5am again this morning. I seem to have no trouble getting to sleep at night but once I wake up my brain goes into overdrive. Hoping to get back to sleep for an hour or two after I've had a cuppa and a look on here. I've just been reading through the frugal thread, thinking that should probably be my aim for next year. I am a little concerned about our financial position if dh is off work for the long haul. I had so many plans for our spare £566 a month rather than replacing his contribution to running the house. Ah well.
    I wish I could say I was planning a quiet weekend, but no...
    Here's today's list:
    ;) check banking
    ;) ds to football
    ;) both kids to gymnastics
    ;) catch up with bestie over coffee
    ;) hoover right through the house
    ;) clean the bathroom
    ;) load of washing and line dry
    ;) nsd
    ;) meals from stores
    ;) inventory food stocks
    ;) read through my 'Girl Called Jack' books for inspiration to use up stuff I have in house.
    ;) nap
    That's just today's list - plenty more for tomorrow. Have a good day everyone.

    Morning CCL (and everybody else who comes along later) :)
    I have been awake for ages too, and like you, once my brain gets going, there is no stopping it :( No going back to bed for me though, or I will as likely do the same tonight. I will get a shower in a minute.

    List for today:
    Sort out chickens Done
    Washing out on line to dry One load dry, the second is out there now, blowing nicely :D
    Put dry washing away Done x 2 :)
    Go to post office and sales unit - one of the other dealers has for sale a beautiful silver and amber necklace that DD1 would love, so I am going to buy that and put it in my present box for her birthday, which is in January. Only £20, too :) It is always worth checking out local antiques arcade places for present shopping, as you can often get unique items for much less than something pretty ordinary in a 'normal' shop :D Only thing is, you have to buy it when you see it! Done, and stashed necklace in pressie box :)
    Make more food items for baby GD's christening tomorrow, and see what other help DD needs Waiting for shopping to arrive before I do the rest of the cooking. OH has been summoned to do some jobs :rotfl:
    HM meals Omelettes tonight, to reduce egg mountain
    Shopping delivery later
    Water garden pots and baby fruit trees, as it is so dry Done
    Exercise and groom pup later (didn't brush him yesterday and he looks like the contents of a hoover bag at the best of times :rotfl:) Done

    Pulled out the rest of the carrots and beetroot from veg patch, and planted kale plants, put up mini plastic greenhouse thing and put strawberry plants in there to over winter. I usually leave them out (and lose them some years) but we had this thing up in the garage loft so might as well use it!

    Still need to water the pots in the front garden, and do some mending (I hate sewing :() and polish boots so that they look respectable for tomorrow

    Just realised how long I have taken to write this post - in between doing other things! Better get on :eek:

    Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Morning everyone

    Not a massive list today, mostly because I am sooooo lazy

    * Take DD to jazz, musical theatre and conditioning. It's all at the same place so it's a drop off at 9:30, collect at 12:30.Three hours to get on with other stuff

    * Nip into Aldi for eggs, salad and nothing else - well bought more than I planned of course, but only £3.77 more than the budget

    * Really must make an effort to clean the living room, it's a disaster, and the bathroom.Only managed the living room

    * Check bank account - Done

    * List 2 bedside tables on Facebook - Done but no responses. I am starting to wonder whether Ebay is better than Facebook for selling

    * Meals from stores, OH cooking though, yippee - Lovely beef curry and rice for lunch and dinner, with butternut squash for veg

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning folks

    Quick post from my phone so please excuse the lack of formatting. Got to get on this morning as friend coming around lunchtime

    List:
    B/L/D from stores probably
    Clean bathrooms
    make loaf of bread
    Hoover
    Send OH to charity shop with tat sitting on landing
    Strip and make bed
    Oodles on washing to go on the line
    Probably general crafty day if friend's hubby doesn't come along
    Declutter some board games
    Pre emptive phone call to energy supplier as noticed an issue with the readings
    Hooray! Oven people have called. They are taking it away to be fixed? (did it in situ last time in about five minutes?) but am wondering if this means that there is a chance they will either refurb it a bit or I may get a shiny new one. Must make sure there's a clear path in/out of the house. Won't hoover until they traipse through!
    Checked ebay. Five watchers and one bid on knick knack :)

    Lots to and I have a banging headache. Painkillers, coffee, brekkie then bring it on!

    Have a good one all

    Morning DFW-Ninjas,

    Decided not to go running this morning. Unusually for our area we are shrouded in fog for the third morning running.

    OH and I haven't decided what we're doing today apart from going to the theatre tonight to see a comedian. Probably put the telebox on and sit in front of that.

    I'm going to write this list as I do it.

    Debt-Free Nillionaire Month 5:

    * Did GfK Surveys.

    * Checked remaining Broadband allowance.

    * Looked to see if i-Say £20 e-voucher has appeared yet. It hasn't.

    * Used Resolver again. (Link) Energy company promised to pay me £10 compensation for a delay in processing my refund. This was over 30 days ago now and they promised I'd have it by now. Maybe I'll get compensated for a lack of compensation?!

    * Registered M&S Sparks card.

    * Sorted out pile of paperwork sitting on my desk. For some reason I hate filing and I always put it off even though it only takes 5 mins.

    * Did own manicure and pedicure.

    * Two home haircuts.

    * Did own eyebrows.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Havent been up long. Very rare for me to stay in bed so late, must have needed it. OH still in bed, he seems to be in a funny mood so he can stay there.

    OH and DS1 off to footie later, not sure what DS2 is up to. I shall potter at home, dont feel like doing anything too strenous.

    I was just contemplating the fact that we need some food shopping. Can I be bothered to go out or can we just manage on what we have got?

    Oh and the car needs washing.

    But first I need to prise myself out of my jim jams.
