I started with Freeserve (which offered a freephone service) - which became Orange - then Wanadoo, then TalkTalk (which, I am currently with) - funny how things happen....
Incidentally - it was Freeserve that gave me a totally free Pager that gave the first 160 text characters of any Emails sent to me !!
are you sure about that ?
afaik, freeserve never had a freephone service.
at the time, the only one available was from BT Internet, which was limited to weekends only. NTL eventually brought one out, but only on their own phone lines. Followed by another one (i cant remember the name) but it was very difficult to actually connect to, and didn't actually last very long. This was the late 90's0
