    The box i3 deal

Click where it's highlighted blue and says the box i3 deal
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

Your desktop with genuine XP qualifies for the Trade In.

I wrote cashback as that is what it is.

If it were literally a trade in, the discount would be at point of sale.

So I deliberately labelled it cashback as you get the money back.... and added that his machine qualified for the trade In.

An example of the ''weasely' T&Cs?

The CUBE to which you have linked does not have Windows 7 installed.
It has Windows 8 with Bing. So no chance to downgrade to Windows 7 without purchasing another licence or outside help.

With the HP, the OP will have the option of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 10 Pro.

Not that I'm ruling the Cube out. Just for the purpose of information.

Its also only got 4gb Ram which is frankly pathetic and its a 64bit OS which uses more Ram to start with. I tried putting Win 7 64bit on an old 4gb machine once and gave up with all the "low on memory" errors and installed 32 bit instead, problem solved. (Motherboard wouldn't allow more than 4gb system ram)

To the OP: either cough up for a better system or go with a refurb/recon/used system. Or you might as well hook up your monitor to a potato.
Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.

A trade in is where you take money (or discount) for goods you already own, a cash back is a cash discount redeemed immediately or at a later date. There's a legal distinct difference from the point of contract.

Lenovo's deals being an example of the latter.

    As for weasely T&C:

    19. HP reserves the right to change Qualifying Products during the promotional period.

I'd be surprised if the traded in PC would qualify for the bonus discount and would probably only get £75.

Missed the bit about w7 being a potential requirement, however for that price I'd suffer W8.1 ;)

The bonus of the cube is a 500w psu vs 180w on the hp, swings and roundabouts I suppose.

There is no point in cutting and pasting. it doesn't change a thing.

It's not as if the OP is going to walk into an HP showroom, hand his machine in and get the discount on the spot, now is it?

The way way that it will happen in reality is that he will pay the full price, send in his old machine and get cash back.

So rather than trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, let's stick to accurate descriptions, so as not to confuse.

As to the amount given back, I advised that the OP gets in touch with grumpycrab. He has likely gone through the process and probably has links to threads on HotUkDeals with people's experience with these trade in/cashback deals.
Do you have any evidence of the Bonus Reward not being paid or are you just making that up as you go along? ;)
As to the PSU wattage of 180, personally I would ignore that rating. Likely closer to 300 watts.
