Looking at the bottom right computer as it appears to be able to get Windows 7.
Main differences I can see are HDD, (I don't need 1TB), and the processor, the dearer one also has a 2 year guarantee.
All prices exclude VAT.
If none recommended, when looking for a computer I understand the main component is the processor, if so which processor should I be looking at, (not re this advert),for best results?

So which one are you comparing it against? Bottom left?
I would tend to go for the better CPU if I could afford it. (You can probably negotiate a Windows 7 "downgrade" on any of the machines).

But based on these comparisons, there's not really a lot to choose between them. It depends on what you plan to do with the machine.
Note: the 3.1GHz i5 is the 4440 not 4400 as shown in the advert in your post. The 4400 is a 2.7GHz clock.0 -
How much do you want to spend and what do you want to use a computer for ?Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0

There are some bargains to be had by looking for refurbs from a reputable seller. I have just bought one on eBay with a better spec and cheaper than any of those. Of course you wouldn't be getting the two year warranty.
Processor is Intel Core i7-3770 CPU. Memory or a disk upgrade would be cheap but I will plunder the ssd and 4GB of memory from my current desktop anyway assuming the memoty type turns out to be correct. It comes with Win 7 x64 Pro. I'll probably upgrade to Win 10 though.0 -

Still some 2nd gen i7s there though, good price. This CPU has a lot of grunt:

Beware folks if you want to throw in a discrete graphics card it's a low profile case and I think they are only 320w PSUs.

Kwikbreaks, out of interest what did you buy and how much ?kwikbreaks wrote: »There are some bargains to be had by looking for refurbs from a reputable seller. I have just bought one on eBay with a better spec and cheaper than any of those. Of course you wouldn't be getting the two year warranty.

Yes bottom left, (it is the only one with a 2 year gtee on that page as mentioned in my OP:))Fightsback wrote: »How much do you want to spend and what do you want to use a computer for ?
I was thinking around £300, usage just general plus playing back and editing HD videos,(via VLC).
As I mentioned in my OP, "I understand the main component is the processor, if so which processor should I be looking at"?
Re processors is there a "list" I should be looking at and what would be the best/worst?
kwikbreaks, I don't really want to go for refurbished.

I'm afraid that list does nothing for me.
What I need is an idea of what would be a rubbish CPU and what would be a good one.

kwikbreaks wrote: »That's the one I bought - I had the last one. Not picked it up from Argos yet as I'm away from home. That seller does still have a slightly lower spec one a tad cheaper. They also have others such as dual core Pentiums well under £100. I'm just upgrading from a low end i5 machine.
Not in the market, nice price though for the still very capable i7-3770.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
