Friday 16th October - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending! :money:

Good morning everyone

Logged on this morning to find no new posts since I was last on - which means it's either very quiet on here, or it's not that long since I was last on
Up and about even earlier than normal today. After some fantastic practical advice on my diary, I am going to dh's early morning doctor's appointment with him. I've got my little list of facts about how poorly he is so we'll see if anything happens. I don't much like this doctor he's seeing either so I'll have no problem being 'assertive' here.
Today's list:
check banking
accompany dh to the doctors
work
mark 2 sets of books (as I've fallen behind by a day)
get my photocopying in at the office (urgent)
get ds to football training
shopping night
nsd
meals from stores
Best head off and make sure that the kids are up and about... Have a good day all.Not giving up

Good luck with the docs CCL. In my experience some GPs are better than others with mental health problems so you do need to make sure that you get your point across.
Off to get ready for the paid stuff in a minute. No heating on this morning, house doesnt feel cold but I have been cold at work this week. I maybe need to find a couple of warmer jumpers that still look smart for work. Wore my thermal vest yesterday and I was still cold!
I need some food shopping but might not get it done today. Need to keep using up the free apples I have been given too.
Right, better shift myself.0 -
Morning, first time to post here. Relieved its Friday! I have a rather small and boring list:
* Work -but as I work from home this rather not as stressful as it could be, although very busy still. Its a PJ's day today I think. This does save on having to buy clothes for work
* Cook from stores - hubby does all the cooking now that he is out of work job seeking. a big help so technically not my task!
* NSD
Have a good day all0 -

Morning all

Good luck at the Dr's CCL - hope you get the result you want
List for today:
Wash kitchen floor Done
Put more stuff away Done some but still plenty more to go
Make large batch of scones for DD as promised Made 45 for DD, plus a few 'uglies' that have gone into our cake tin
Small shop needed Actually quite a big one by the time I had been through all the cupboards to see what we were running out of, plus ingredients for remaining cooking I have promised to do for DD for baby's christening on Sunday
Load of washing Done
Any surveys, FPL etc Done
All HM meals Done
Visited an arboretum fairly near to here this afternoon
Nice walk with pup, who made lots of friends, both human and canine :rotfl: Bought 2 lovely children's books in the gift shop for 5 and 8 year old GDs for Christmas. Not really into Christmas shopping yet, but it seemed silly not to buy them when I saw them. I am thinking a small craft item each in addition will do fine for these two - trying to avoid pink plastic landfill this year!
OH and I each had a coffee while we were there, but avoided cakes etc, partly to save our waistlines, but mainly because we have all those scones at home
Hmm I am sure there is more... will check back later!
Hope all have a good day

CCL, i agree with YL. When i went to the GP with my MH problems i was basically told to stop being so lazy (i had depression)When i took my son a few years ago,he was told that it'd pass. He suffers with severe Social and General Anxiety, OCD and Aspergers.
What i find useful is to go into the appointment knowing what result you want. For example, if your husband could do with counselling, don't wait for the GP to offer it, ask to be put on the waiting list.
Good luck

Morning all!
Thanks to ccl for starting us off. I hope the Dr's app goes well. It's a pity you don't live near me as I could thoroughly recommend the doctor that my OH saw. He was very kind and very good. The gave OH a drug called Sertraline and the difference in him is amazing.
Ally - well done on your win against the council
Foxgloves - I sooooo hope that it is a brown pig!!!!
Crochet afghan is coming along. I have 1.5 strips left to sew the squares together and then 3 strips to attach, then do the edging (must decide on one). I might finish by the end of the week!
Last night not quite according to plan as we didn't cook but OH was busying KonMarie'ing all of his clothes. They do look pretty fab tbh and hopefully he'll keep them that way this time. Liberated an old dinner suit that was two sizes too big for him (he's lost a lot of weight since we met - think he had kept it in case he needed a dinner suit but he'd have looked a bit funny as it was sooo large!) . He wanted company while he did it so I went round dusting our bedroom (which apparently was covered in bright blue fluff?!?! possibly the fault of the new duvet cover)
Today's list:- Make spare bed and dust and hoover room for arrival of friend (and possibly her hubby if he decides that he wants to hang around with two girls)
- B/D from stores - treating myself to something for lunch
- Lamb joint out of freezer for tomorrow
- Charge phone in work - done
- Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet - done
- Tidy up and hide crocheted baby goods before friend arrives
- Probably a no drinkie day but I may trek back out for a small glass of vino if I get all that done
- Reprint groupon voucher as forgot yesterday
- Read Martin's email as forgot yesterday - done
- Keep heating off but should be ok as it's a bit warmer here today
- Washing out on line - done
- Got OH to take our winter duvet to his mum's to see if it would fit in her washing machine instead of taking it to the laundrette - booo it doesn't
Have a good one all

Morning guys  thanks for starting the thread ccl :A I hope the go appt goes well x
 it's Friday! This week has seemed to draaaaaaaaaaaaggggggg and I don't even work!
I need to finish a job application before 12 and have dgd so am going to have to get creative. Will organise a load of art arrivistes that she can sit and do next to me while I finish it off. Hopefully it shouldn't take more than an hour. I'll take dgd to a soft play afterwards. ok application finished & submitted. Is it terribly lazy that I have a personal statement that I made a couple of years ago that is really good and since I've only ever had to make some minor adjustments to it to fit all of the job applications I've applied for?
it only took me about 1/2 hour to do. Set up a princess tent play house thingy up for dgd in her bedroom with bedding, toys, tea set and little kitchen and she played happily while I did it :T
Small things for the day
* [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]pay FU and re set up dd (really can't bare to post this again!)[/STRIKE]
* all meals from stores
* might make sausage and roast veg. Thanks for the inspiration Dawn!
* Load of washing and on dryer
* stripping wallpaper this evening
* return laptop charger to shop for refund
* pop into Asda while in town and pick up dd some slippers
* fill wholes/imperfections in plaster in various rooms
Ok that's all I can think of right now! Have a great day everyone xDF as at 30/12/16

Good Morning Everyone
CCL - Thanks for starting us off today, hope you get the result you want and need at the Drs
Foxgloves - You've got us all intrigued now
Love and hugs to everyone else
Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.
Still feeling really low and absolutely everything is getting on my nerves (including me). Already been for a brisk walk to meet another mum regarding a bullying incident at school yesterday involving her son and a school tie - he pulled my sons tie off (good job they are clip on) and then proceeded to tell me son that if he touched his tie he would F***ing kill him and then proceeded to lose son's tie - messaged mum who wasn't happy and suggested we have one of their spare ties, we had a spare but they lost one they should replace one is my view, hers slightly different (if we have a spare why worry) but for once I stood my ground  . Today I will:
Packed lunch for DH
Bake?
Clear dining table (again)
Post Ebay sales
Finers crossed Ebayer turns up for collection only item
Return DS's Library Book (neither of us enjoyed it - it was a book for school "Maggot Moon")
Bump all sale listings/freecycle
DIY manicure/pedicure
Continue purge on Emails
Surveys
Check Banks
Enter a few comps
All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer
Read book (from groaning shelf)
Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win
Check Lucky Phone
Have a great day, love to you all
