Open staircase/carpet issue, help....

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help (currently pregnant and anxious about everything haha)
We had an open staircase. We are having a lounge refit and as part of it are having the stairs filled in and cupboards built underneath.
To fill in the stairs the builders have put in a backboard (see pic) as there isn't enough overlap on the stairs to put risers in. I'm concerned about how we fit the carpet though...... Any ideas :undecided

We would like stairs on the carpet it then goes up to a hallway. In a small terraced house with a baby on the way wooden stairs would be really loud.Recently married and loving it x0 -
we have the backboard, then risers have been fitted comfortably to allow for carpet and plenty of step . perhaps it is a measurement thing in our older houses. my whole staircase was moved to allow for a gentler incline .old enough for my bones to feel the cold .0

Paint all the bits that aren't covered by the carpet.0 -
1. Ask a carpet fitter if/how they would deal with it. It may not be possible given the standard way of using carpet gripper.
2. Depending upon type of carpet, use an adhesive on the sloping section with carpet gripper on the tread.0
