  • BSODs can be caused by a variety of system files and still end up with the same error code, so what may have been the graphics drivers in one instance may not be in your case!
Easiest way to find out is by using event viewer. It can be a bit daunting to look at but don't worry! Open up your search from the side menu, then type event viewer and it should appear, click it and you're ready to investigate!
You will see a lot of errors, Don't Panic! What you need to do is look at the side and click Windows Logs, then System. This will show you a lot of events specifically encountered and handled by Windows itself.
Look at entries around the time of the crashes - they should be marked as critical for the blue screen itself, but there may be others that happened just before. If you click any error, at the bottom it will tell you about the error, specifically which driver it's had trouble with.
Check on both computers and if you have any trouble reading the critical errors, just post back with what they say. :)

There are over 3000 logs from yesterday and today on the Main computer.

Alot of red and yellow alerts as well.

I can't see how to copy them all and post on here?
  • I'm still wondering if Windows Update is at fault?

Everything was ok until i downloaded it yesterday on the main computer.

The Laptop only started going wrong when i downloaded the updates lastnight!

EG: With the laptop, and i've had to do it several times, if i install the windows updates i get that message and Windows wont restart/load, so i end up restoring it to a time before the updates, and then it loads okay.

It will restart and load okay from then on.... until it / i re-download the windows updates once more, and then the same problem occurs.

What happens if you restore, get Windows up and running and then got to Windows update, untick optional updates, right click on each one and "Hide" it (It can be unhidden later if required), then untick all the "important" updates, click on each one and find the earliest, tick it and click OK to install ONLY that one update. See what happens then when you restart. Keep doing this until you find the one that is causing the trouble.

Unfortunately uninstalling Bit Defender hasn't rectified the problems :(

The best way then to deal with this properly is to analyse the crash dumps:

Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
