Both my computers using Windows 8.1 have suffered 'the blue screen of death' with the message ''Thread Exception Not Handled''

And Windows wont load!

A Windows Update seems to have caused this problem, and i have to do System Restore, to 'right' things

I even did a System Refresh on the Laptop, and then had to reinstall everything.... yet after downloading 167 Windows Updates, it's happened again :mad:

Do you have the same anti virus package installed on both computers ?
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
  • A good place to start is look at your System and Application log files. Any crashes should record some useful information in there. Run Eventvwr.exe and look under Windows Logs when it is opened to display the logs. Look for the Yellow (Warnings) and Red alerts and let us know what you see.

Just had to do a restore on my laptop (Windows 7) and then had 17 updates. First time I tried, one of them "failed to install" so I tried again one at a time, earliest first with a restart after every one (how time consuming is that) and every thing went well.

As both computers have bit defender it could possibly be a bit defender problem, very curious as to why two different PC's both are BSODing

Anti virus packages along with video drivers are the two commonest causes of BSOD's.

Also look for any other common software packages you might have between the two, however the first port of call would be the AV. AV software normally has kernel mode drivers which can cause a kernel crash, ie. BSOD

Is it the free version or paid version ?

Google mentions a graphics card problem?

Note this recent thread here where the AV was causing an issue

To get a better picture of the culprit analysing the crash dumps is the way forward.

However as a first step it might be a good idea to remove bit defender temporarily and test with another free av solution.

Everything/updates need a Restart, which then causes the blue screen and same message.

    Uninstall bitdefender and try again.

Also check that you don't have truster rapport installed, if so uninstall that as well.
