For those of us who have absolutely no interest in competitions whatsoever, it is a complete nightmare trying to spot new posts amongst the flood of completion posts every morning!
Just change the "sorted by" at the bottom of the page from the default "Last post time" to "Thread start time" and you will only see new posts.0 -
Definitely on the main boardThanks all the posters xxxx Be lucky xxxx0

I don't see any "sorted by" button. I use the forum "new posts" button in the main banner which automatically shows threads that have been updated or created in time order. But this also includes all the competition threads that are flooded onto the forum first thing every morning.
It's extremely frustrating and difficult to find other non-competition threads. Considering those that regularly enter competitions generally frequent the actual competition board there should be absolutely no reason to include this board in the "new post" function. It's quite easy for the tech team to exclude it if they so wish.0 -
Another vote for main board here. It's how I've known it and I don't like change! haha2013 - 86 | 2014 - 127 | 2015 - 39 | 2016 - 22 | 2017 - 10 | 2018 - 56 | 2019 - 16 | 2020 - 4 | 2021 - 5 | 2022 - 1 win0

Definitely keep them on the main board, with the sticky at the top.
There's already talk of people not finding the 'regulars' board - or whatever it is to be called - so I'm sure many people would miss out.
Also, just as an aside, I don't know about last year, but OYL did the advent thread in 2013 and one of the major problems was people posting advent threads to the main board and not linking them on the dedicated thread (and this was not just newbies!). I can see trouble ahead what with people probably just posting on the main board as usual. then someone would have to PM to get it moved, meanwhile someone's probably creating a thread for the same comp in the right sub-forum, then we'd have two threads for the same comp, then someone would PM to say they need merging .... etc, etc .... I think the event has enough problems as it is ...
And then you get people who ask if the dedicated thread could be changed each day to reflect the prize on offer each day  i kid you not  the air was blue here ...0 -

I misunderstood, assumed it was non advent competition posts you were looking for not general posts all across the forum.
Looking at any individual section will obviously remove all the other sections but I don't think there is a way for individuals to exclude sections they are not interested in from the overall "new posts" sorting.0 -
main board here i know itgets busy but will prob forget if its in a subWhat goes around-comes around0

The Main Board option seems more sensible to me.0

I have a link saved for the main board to view 200 on one page. It will be quicker for me if everything stays on main. Christmas isn't time for changes there are more comps posted than normal and an extra board where new members could make mistakes it will just make more work.0

Main board with a sticky for me too. It works well and the 1st few days will be mad whichever way it's done so I figure why change it.0
