I can't seem to see any active drivers in Belfast. Did launch not go down so well?


Seems it doesn't launch until 4pm.

You know the cost before setting off, no meters with £10 new years eve charges and double fair every weekend to rip you off or private hire thugs inventing their own fairs and threatening to call the police.
You know the cab is on its way and you know its a real private hire registered car and driver.
Win Win for the customer.
Lose Lose for the rip off night hawking drivers who have got away with ripping of vulnerable customers year in year out.

It has always p***ed me off the way the black taxis from City Hall charge extra in the evenings and at weekends. The private taxi companies charge the same whatever time of day as far as I know.

is that true? I thought they were metered still? Never used it so don't know

Used it last night and found it utterly painless. Was picked up in a top range car, taxi driver was very enthusiastic and even got a goody bag. Fare was the same as fona/value which is fine.

I think they have a good number of drivers but they pick their own hours so might be times when its hard to get one.

Remember, it took fona and value years to build up driver numbers and so expecting a 24/7 non stop service on day one is a bit unrealistic

Believe this is gonna help us (the public) - Been stranded twice this year with the big companies (mid evening so should have been no problem) but left standing at the city hall for 30 mins . . . .

Gonna try this Uber thing and see how it goes . . . . there is a £10 credit for first time users so cant be bad.


Will still use my local firm to get into town as they are always reliable for getting into town, its getting home that's always the problem.

Gave Uber a go at the weekend. Have to say I was very impressed. Nice car, polite driver. Was going to have to wait 20 min for a taxi from the normal players, got an Uber in 5 minutes.


Price was pretty much the same. Even got a goodie bag.
