Tuesday 13th October - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending! :money:

Good morning all
Difficult night of sleep last night so I'm not on the ball today at all. My mind has gotten very busy again, and I can't seem to switch it off. Never mind - I'll have another busy day today so that will mean I don't get too much time to dwell. I've made a doctor's appointment for next week to go and 'have a chat' about the current situation.
Small list todaycheck banking (no PAD again as no £££)
load of washing in
hoover
full day of teaching
mark a set of books
pick up my new shirt from M&S that I got for free with a gift card
try not to stress
ask for help if I need it
check fpl and luckyphone
upload this weekends receipts onto COS
all meals from stores
aim for nsd
Think that's it for now - have a good day everyoneNot giving up

Morning all
Thanks for the start CCL
List for today:
Hoovering / cleaning upstairs Done
Check banks, sort out pile of receipts Done
Post birthday card and postal survey item Done -forgot to take the postal survey item when I walked into town the first time - so had to go again this afternoon  Still, free exercise I suppose!
Any surveys that are available Done a couple for onepoll. Also free postcode lottery.
Bit of mendingDon't like sewing but it will be nice to get it done I got as far as getting my sewing box out...
Get hair cut Done
Visit market while out, and buy celery, onions, garlic and fruit Done. The people who have the fruit and veg stall in the market are local veg farmers, and their celery is HUGE, it really dwarfs the stuff in the supermarkets (but cost about the same). It smelled so lovely in my shopping bag that I had some for lunch
Minimal cooking - rest of yesterday's fish pie for supper Done.
Took a couple of items to sales unit as the hairdresser's shop is next door. Was pleased to see that an item had sold :T (things are a bit slow at the moment)
Sort out freezers now that everything in the small one has had to be cooked and refrozen. I need to use up the cooked items asap, so need them all in one place Not done this yet[/COLOR]
Exercise and groom pup later. He was weighed last night, and now weighs 1.8 kg. Done
Picked a stray courgette (might be the last one!)
Made a cake. Baby GD will be looking for cake when she comes to me tomorrow. I have just sampled it... purely in the interests of quality control you understand :rotfl:
Swapped the summer duvet for the winter weight one, and I have the linen in the washing machine at the moment (no point in not putting on clean covers etc)
Dragged the fireguard out of the loft in case we want to light the woodburner when baby GD is here tomorrow. It was really cold this afternoon, and OH had lit it by 5. If it is warm tomorrow, well, at least it will stop her playing with the fire tools and getting mucky that way
Hmm that doesn't sound much of a list, I am sure there is more! I will check back later.
Hope everyone has a good day0 -

Morning all,
Just a small list of money saving today, as am intending to make sure I get the leisure time I didn't manage yesterday. So here we are:
*Did cheap load of laundry overnight. Will peg it out in a minute as it's dry here so far.
*Sort out my yukky roots. Only made up half a box of colour last time, so will use the rest of that.
*Sort through big bag of ripening tomatoes, remove the red ones & do something with them. Skinning, blitzing & freezing is as useful as anything because they can then be used for sauces, soups, chilli, etc, when needed.
*Log into energy account & try to ascertain why we haven't had a bill. By my reckoning, I was expecting one last week.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Pick lettuce & spring onions from garden.
*Knit more of jumper (for present).
That will do for today.

DNMS - I'm doing enforced ripening here. It does work. Put all your green tomatoes in a big paper bag with a couple of ripe ones & fold the top or peg it closed. All but the most stubborn ones will gradually ripen.

Morning all
I'll be paying £3 whole pounds worth of copper coins in to the bank and will pay that off one of my CC's.
I've also just cancelled a monthly subscription to a web-site my husband had joined which allows you to search Forces War records, that was costing us £8.95 a month! Just need him now to cancel his Experian membership today and that will be another £14.99/month we can put towards our debt.
Omg....now I've just got a quote for insuring my mobile phone - I'm currently paying £14.99/month - I can get this down to £5.99/month!! Aaagghh!! Guess what I'll be doing today..?!!
That's £33/month saved!!Debt as of Sept' 2015 (LBM!): £36,351  (sickening)
Monthly outgoings on debt alone: £1243/month
We're on the right path, we got ourselves here..we're a bit lost, but we'll find our way back again!0 -
Morning folks!
Thanks to ccl for starting us off. Well done for making that appointment
DNMS - sorry you're feeling a bit under par too *hugs*
Bob - hope today is a bit easier for you.
Feeling a bit painful here today IYKWIM ladies, but the sun is shining and I'm going to that crossfit thing at lunchtime, so the thigh pain will outweigh anything else!
Today's things:- OH tackling the room of doom (i.e. his music room). I suggested some KonMarie principles to him (got a bit obsessed with that thread yesterday!). Suggested that he removed everything from the room and took it back in one at a time. If he doesn't use it or love it then it can be left on the landing and we'll think about the stuff.
- B/L/D from stores - half-prepped some sc pasta/cauli/cheese bake. Prepped the cauli and put in the sc with the pasta. Sauteed some leeks and onions and popped that in too. Will email OH instructions for cheese sauce.
- Charge phone in work - done
- Check online banking and update spreadsheet
- Crossfit. Not directly mse but will make me fitter and healthier. This in turn discourages me from eating crap, getting stressed and the dreaded booze. Have been getting better though as have been having more drink-free days. I've been using the drinkaware app which is very good. I'm fair too partial to a glass of wine (or two) in the evenings and it actually turned out that I was drinking 25-30 units a week! It adds up really quickly and I've managed to reduce it to about 20 units a week so far, with more non drinking days (hasn't helped that I've had some events to go to). - phew! What a beasting!!
- Possibly a bit of tidying later but more likely to crash out with my crochet - I'll post a picture of the finished "spring" afghan when I'm done
- Tell OH that we've run out of internet and he's not to buy a top-up - done
Have a good one all
