Monday 12 Oct - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending! :money:

Morning all (need a bleary eyed smiley here :()
OH somehow managed to switch off one of the freezers, and the first I knew of it was when I noticed a small, suspicious looking puddle on the floor at 10pm last night

Most things were completely defrosted, a few still very slightly frozen, so I had to start a massive cooking session there and then, to avoid having to throw the lot away. I have had to chuck some things such as HG veg and cooked rice, but the rest is now all cooked and ready to be refrozen. OH wiped out the freezer and switched it back on last night to get really cold, and have just put the first few bits into it. Thankfully it is just a small under counter freezer - imagine if it had been a chest one

    So, list for today:
Pot up and refreeze tomato sauce which I boiled for a few minutes to be on the safe side (done :))
Pot up and freeze cooked fruit (blackberries and rhubarb) Doneoriginally frozen raw
    Bag up cooked sausages Done
Flake and bag up cooked fish Done
Pot up cooked game meat once cool (it spent the rest of the night in the SC) Done
Somehow isolate and label the freezer plug as it is plugged into a bank of sockets that OH is always using, which is how it happened (he switched off the wrong thing :(). I will actually murder him if he does it again  Done
Clear up the kitchen, which looks like a disaster zone after the mad midnight cooking session  Done
Come to think of it the rest of the house isn't much better  Did all of downstairs :T
Pack and post off item sold on ebay. Done See if any postal survey tasks need to be done today, and if so, do them at the same time! Nothing needed posting today
Go to the pound shop while in town for loads of cheap foil freezer containers and more freezer bags Didn't need to do this - salvaged some of the original packaging and managed with what I had :T
Take some items to sales unit - could do without this, but must work for my business, domestic dramas or not! Done
Make something for supper, using food I have cooked (I am thinking fish pie :)) Yes, probably the most expensive fish pie I have ever made, with loads of wild Atlantic salmon and big prawns  Normally this would have made loads of meals, but is at least better than wasting it. And there will be enough for dinner tomorrow as well
Make a loaf in the BM Done
Few things needed at the shops - small bag of frozen peas to go in my fish pie, milk. Just those two things bought :A
    Few surveys for onepoll
    FPL
Puppy to free training class at the vet's
Bit of paperwork for my business

Not done too bad on very little sleep :rotfl:

Right, I think that will keep me busy for now - better get on :(
Hope a good day is had by all :)

    Morning all!

Hope you all had a good weekend - haven't caught up on the weekends post yet.

    * Washing hung on line before work
    * Take lunch to work - well partly as I ran out of time to make my salad
    * Catch up on weekends thread
    * Ring doctors to make an appointment for Friday as cant shift this nasty cough and I'm off Friday
    * Pay money into bank whilst out for boss (so can claim petrol back too)
    * Decide how to allocate money
    * Update spreadsheet signature and snowball
    * Check FPL
    * Charge phone in work
    * List bits on eBay for boss who said I can have 10% of whatever she makes for doing it
    * Take cake stand back to Mr T
    * Dinner from stores - will be left over roast lamb as lodger bought a huge joint. Any ideas what I can do with it?
    * Help OH finish ripping out living room
    * Clean bathroom

Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a great day.

    Morning all

Thanks to ccl for starting us off

Dawn - glad you managed to save a lot of it. My OH left the freezer door open while I was away with work for a week - I was not too impressed!

I went to bed at 8pm last night, but still knackered this morning. I really feel like I need some time off work but I've got no days left. I may need to just get my a$$ in gear and sort some stuff in the evenings. I was super organised when I got home from London yesterday and started the chutney and did some cleaning/rearranging of ornaments to try and make the house look a bit different and listed one knick-knack on ebay. I even washed and IRONED the little table cloths. I never iron.

    Today's small things:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Decluttered a hideous knackered scarf and a equally knackered beanbag cover into new fabric bank bin that has appeared en route to work - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Hang washing outside - done
    • Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet - done
    • Charge fitbit in work - done
    • Check flylady zone of week (bathroom?) - done and yep it is
    • Add bits to shopping list as I think of them - ongoing
    • Go for a run at lunchtime - done
    • Do some general cleaning/sorting/decluttering
    • Strip spare bed
    • Finish chutney and jar it
    • Read magazines that I wombled from the train
    • Talk to manager about time off in lieu
    • Sent KonMarie info to OH as all his t-shirts are scrumpled up in drawers and he lives off the clean washing pile! - done
    • Work on sewing afghan squares together
    • Ring insurance people off work phone - done
    That's enough for me today

    Have a good one all

  • Good Morning All

Completely missing from action last week. Got rushed into hospital Monday Evening and was in til Friday night. Picked up a very violent stomach bug, which came on all of a sudden after taking my insulin meaning sugars dropped extremely low. Not nice being away from the little ones for so long. However on the plus side, I spent no money and managed to save enough to pay the deposit for my holiday in February :-D Jut leaving £289 to pay. Few pots of money coming in soon (switching accounts, surveys etc) so should be all paid off in a couple of weeks.
