    Morning all,
Dawn - I'd have been mad about the freezer switch-off! Glad you didn't lose too much food.
JoJo - You have had a drama there. Hope you are feeling better now & getting things back to normal.
I'm just squeezing in a post while waiting for the bread machine to ping. Only popped in from greenhouse for a coffee, but not worth de-mudding myself twice, so here I am. Today's small money saving efforts:
*Did laundry overnight on cheap tariff. Re-loaded washer for same again tonight.
*All pegged out on the line by 8 a.m. Chilly morning but the sun is up, blue sky & very cheering. I love autumn & winter, but I don't really do 'grey'.
*Made bread - loaf in breadmaker & dough proving next to it (blagging a bit of warmth) to make rolls.
*Defrosted soup for tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Leftovers for dinner - lots of the lovely pie left which mr f cooked last night.
*Picked all remaining peppers & chillies before putting the greenhouse to bed for winter. Will freeze the green chillies. Have strung up the orange & red ones for drying.
*Cut remaining basil. The nights are too cold for it here now. A bit nibbled but plenty good enough to use,
*Sow the sweetpea seeds I soaked overnight. All free packets. Using recycled large yoghurt pots & the tall take-away coffee cups to put them in (from all those free Waitrose coffees!) as sweetpeas seem to like a deep root run. I always sow mine in October now. My March-sown ones always seem so feeble.
*Move big potted dahlia into greenhouse. It was a birthday gift & I'll lose it if we get a sharp frost.
*Pick up more windfall pears (sighs....). There seems to be another 2 or 3lbs lying on the lawn. A helpful blackbird has been tucking into one of them. Will pack a bagful for my in-laws.
*Aiming for some leisure time later - either knitting or family history, reading & updating my blog.
Greenhouse staging has never looked so clean. Have I invested in an expensive new pressure washer or found a wonder-product? Have I secretly paid a gardener to come in & sort it out for me? No! I bought a dustpan & brush set from the '99p Shop'! Well worth the massive financial lay-out of 99p!
Loaf now out of BM & cooling on wire rack. Coffee almost finished. Time to get back to the greenhouse.
    Bye all,
    f x

    Good Morning All

Completely missing from action last week. Got rushed into hospital Monday Evening and was in til Friday night. Picked up a very violent stomach bug, which came on all of a sudden after taking my insulin meaning sugars dropped extremely low.

Wow, JoJo - take it easy and don't go overdoing things

Just sat & tweaked meal plans as decided to turn that bunch of basil into some home made pesto, which will now do tomorrow's meal, instead of what I'd planned. Did a final pick of the runner beans so will add that to tonight's veg. Oh my days, the pears.........decide to have a good look up into the tree to see how many are still up there, & there are loads. Packed carrier bagful for in-laws & shoved 3 in with mr f's packed lunch for tomorrow. If you all lived locally, I'd happily give you all a bagful & still have plenty left! Never mind, it's free & very nice healthy food.

  • Foxgloves we have just about come to the end of our apples and pears. If I am honest I want to eat bananas, oranges, grapes - anything but apples and pears, for a while at least. As you say though its free, fresh food and what can be better than that.

Just having 5 minutes before I get ready for my gym class. I have ticked some jobs off my to do list today which I am pleased about. Took some clutter to the charity shop - without buying anything. Done some baking and put some almost dry washing over the airer. Might just get time to wash the bathroom floor before I go out.
  • chutney is all jarred, spare bed stripped and washed, decluttered some drawers. Good effort methinks!

and yet another one of my friends is pregnant! there must be something in the water!
