How is the phone 'broken'? Would it have been covered under the insurance anyway? Is the fault covered under SOGA or the manufacturer's warranty?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

i would be very surprised with any inurance that will cover you if you drop your phone and broke the glass. It's a massive risk, and quite common too. Insurance will genererally cover for thefts and damage caused by other parties and NOT through negligence of the owner (such as dropping it, leaving it on the edge of the table where a toddler pulls on the table cloth etc)

    Hi ******,

    Thank you for your email.

I can see this is set up on your order and the information has been submitted to the insurance company. If you would like further information on payment dates then I would advise that you speak to them directly and they will be happy to help. The insurance company is City Main and they can be contacted on 0333 999 7907.

Only if the policy covers accidental damage. Most policies cover theft or loss, but they invariably have a long list of exclusions, which is why they are such bad value. It's almost always better to add an expensive handset to your domestic contents insurance policy rather than buy through a phone shop, where they simply rake off a huge percentage as commission.

No, it can't be helped accidents happen and the whole point of insurance is when they happen.

well what you mean is it could be helped, but on this occasion you didnt take due care.
Nor to check you had insurance.
No doubt,no high end case either due to going with the edge design.
accidents happen, however choices can mitigate the chances/fallout.
