A friend has just raise another concern, as i think im being scammed what if they have gone to a cheque cashing facility and cashed it and not put it through their bank?

If they have done this or the other and cashed it what do i have to do?

Sorry for being a pain but im trying ot get my heada around it all

It is irrelevant. You will be able to see that that sum of money has come out of your bank account, therefore you will know that that cheque has been presented!

    PHONE YOUR BANK!

OK why not post all of your bank details on here and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out! (Joke by the way)

    Cut the OP some slack.

Just because she has difficulty grasping a fairly simple concept doesn't me we should riddicule her (see funny true story below). It seems to me that she's been conned on eBay and would rather believe she hadn't than actually find out for sure. I suppose while she's got hope ...

    Anyway my questions:
    1. Why are you buying something on eBay using a company cheque? Is it your company or are you really worried about loosing your job for f*cking up?
    2. How much are we talking about?
    3. Have you phoned your bank yet? Or has the cheque not come from your own account?
    4. (Not to OP who won't know) Doesn't a cheque cashing facility give you money for a cheque (minus 10% say) and then take the cheque to the bank themselves, and thus take the risk its been stopped or is fraudulent etc?

    Funny true story:-
My sister started at uni in 92 and by november had only £100 in her account (as she was told by the ATM). She duely with drew £50 and went out an had a good time. A couple of days later she went to the ATM to withdraw her final £50 but the balance was displayed as £150 (you can probably see where I'm heading here) so she assumed somebody (maybe dad) had put some money in her account and drew out £100 and had a good time. A couple of days later £250 was in her account so she phone home to find out if dad or our rich relative had put some money in her account at which point my dad asked whether there was an OD next to the balance (which obviously there was) ...

If they have cashed it and i cant get hold of them, what can i do?

Please see my earlier posts..I can either look at the seller for you to see if there is anything that looks worrying, or you can ask for help for an ebay specific question on the ebay board. You can actually get sellers details through ebay, including a telephone number.

That is of course after you have found out whether cheque has cleared through the bank or not.

Incidentally, I am rather hoping this is some sort of wind up as otherwise I wonder what will happen if cheque was late being presented and if you had acted on the advice when it was first given, you could have stopped it. By delaying you could, in a worst case scenario, just be giving the seller longer to get it clear in his bank.

    Hello

I came on here for advice

If that's the case why haven't you taken that advice and contacted the bank?

Something not right here, just not sure what that is.

Are you sure you contacted a moderator? I mean you cant do the obvious thing and contact your bank so im surprised thats within your intelligence, contacting a moderator that is

I'll ignore some of the posts on here - but might remind people to read forum etiquette over there ->->->

Anyway, phone the bank and explain the situation (tell them cheque lost in post)

Ask them if the cheque has been presented

If yes - find out which bank, account and name if poss - then post back

If no - cancel the cheque (I assume that even if a cheque cashing company presented the cheque it would be returned to them as cancelled)

Good luck - banks will deal with this every day - give them a call!

OK, sorry I thought I was being helpful, but I'll slink back to my ebay board quietly then.

Incidentally one last question to the OP then I promise I'll leave it alone..have you called the bank and if so what did they say?

You asked for advice. Everyone, almost without exception, gave you the same piece of advice: Phone Your Bank and Stop The Cheque.

It's not just common sense, it's what you always do in business if someone says they haven't received your cheque. Reason? If they haven't received it, someone else may have done and you don't know what they'll do with it.

What has the result been? More pointless questions from you. If you aren't taking the obvious advice, why ask for more?

Maybe i have been a bit slow in certain areas but im trying to do this whilst working a busy job (yes i do have a job!).
But will you still have a job on Monday if the bank pay the cheque out of the company account despite you knowing you could have stopped it? Is gross negligence a sackable offence in your firm?

I'm outta here, this is pointless.
