Absolutely - that was the point. And the regulator that fails to regulate properly is Payphoneplus (and Ofcom as well possibly).

Been spammed with this number even though I never subscribed to anything... The text doesn't even say what the service is for...just says "view content now" but without a description of the contents.

I received 8 messages and ignored assuming a phishing attempt and i didnt want to confirm my number. And then I spotted on my bill that they were charging £3 a message.

The problem with the view below is that Veoo or Treasure Media depending on who you check with has trouble going back years on different numbers if you google it. 80333 and 78123 amongst others. But when you look at PhonepayPlus they've not had a single injunction against this company. It's like they look at everything on case by case basis and don't follow up the trends.

PhonepayPlus have blocked many scams and issued penalties to a number of companies. They can't catch everything, just like the police can't catch every criminal.

It depends how many complaints have been made to PhonepayPlus.

If they receive zero complaints, they have nothing to take action against.
  • Follow illegal & multiple charges of £2 50 each + vat for unsolicited premium rate texts, reverse charged, I was able to identify via the number they sent from that Veoo Ltd were the senders and that the originators were, as in your case, Treasure Media Ltd from a company address in Isleworth. Also check out Phone Pay Plus ..... the regulator of premium " services" . They have levied several fines of tens of thousands of pounds on Veoo Ltd for their involvement in such scams. Rob Webb
  • I've signed up specifically to mention this (as I was one of the defendants, and am happy (surprised) payphoneplus has worked). Old post I know, but fore future searches etc.

They've been slapped with a £135k fine (although, that strikes me as low if they've made £500,00 to £999,999 !), and you may request a refund.

Strongly suggest you all follow the instructions to receive that refund ! Such an incredible rort to be charged without any opt in required. Spread the news - a win for the good guys !!

Doh - can't post links. Please google "phonepayplus treasure media Adjudication"
