Car purchased now dangerous

Also you say you heard a sound after purchasing it and suffered the issues thereon... so the fault wasn't inherent. So I don't believe you'd have a right to a refund. But maybe some rights are far as repairing it is
I do have rights under the Comsumer Rights Act 2015. I would need to prove the car is faulty for a refund firstly though. They should repair or replace.0 -
If you look at the Motoring forum thread you'll find that the "expert advice" regarding the problems was made by Kwikfit on a Sunday.
Make of that what you will.
I was once told by kwikfit, after calling in for a tyre, that I needed new brakes all round - really strange considering I had just replaced them that week - when I told them that I was told that they must have got confused with a different car. Haven't been back since.0 -
Care to elaborate..? Not deleting my post, my opinions not swayed!
Scenario;
A lone female with no mechanical knowledge goes to Kwik-fit to ask about a noise from her new (2nd hand) car as it's Sunday and she's concerned, but the dealer she bought it from is shut.
"Mechanic", finding nothing much amiss, thinks...."hmm, can milk a few bob outta this one, it'll be easy, she knows nothing about cars - now then will it be dangerous brakes, or it is suspensions today?"
Knowing full well he's lying through his teeth he responds; "sorry love, but you need a "mounting" and you need all new brakes, I can't legally let you drive it outta here coz it's dangerous, just look at these... Oh, that'll be £550 please <sad face>"
Thankfully, said lady has the brains to get the hell away from the lying toad and ask for help on MSE - good move. Dangerous my !!!! - it got her to Kwik-con & back & she ain't dead...
Now just which bit do you take issue with??0 -

Ok you waffling on doesn't sway my opinion that the price sounds crazy high irrespective of what they want to replace.0 -

And how you gonna prove the car was faulty when you bought it? And that it is in fact a fault and not failed through wear and tear0 -

Are you being deliberately dim? Of course it is - they were trying to rip her off!!
What we took issue with in your post is the dumb advice to "have it transported" elsewhere as "They are probably right in that it's not safe to drive"... Why? They were trying to scare her into un-necessary expensive work.
Nothing "dangerous" about it, drive it home (like she did) and get it to the seller to sort out, she's only had it 10 days !!!!!!!0 -

I thought the same. It came across that arcon said the op had been spanked paying that much for a renault.
Kwick fit are the ones at fault here, not the dealer0 -

There are plenty of cars that are being driven on the road and will get the user from A to B without dying - doesn't mean they comply with the legal requirements to allow them to be driven on the public roads though.
Are you a qualified mechanic and have you inspected OP's car? If not then perhaps you can appreciate that you're just guessing and can't say with certainty what state the car is in.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
