DH had a wager with his boss that his boss would give him a large sum of money if he achieved a certain result at work. DH has achieved this and not only has the boss paid him his winnings immediately DH will earn double bonus this quarter
V. proud of him. DH wants us to split the winnings between us and put £100 towards a family meal this month and next month. DH has his eye on something but I cant for the life of me think of anything I want to spend the money on. DH has already decided but he is more of a spender than me.
The double bonus means that we will have all the money we need to move saved up by the end of April and we have no chance of moving by then.
We are trying to live on just one wage to maximise our savings, not quite there yet but keeping on keeping on.

I have been up since 5.30am to stir the Bovril into hot water for DH fishing trip
Washer is on and I am about to pop the bread maker on for some GF bread.
The viewing EA did on Thursday has booked a 2nd viewing for next week. The EA for the property we are buying hasn't told the vendor we have lost our buyer she is so confident we will have sold again by the end of next week.
DH has an 'informal chat' on Monday for a promotion at work. Biggest branch in region, closer to home, more money. DH has never had a formal interview, written a CV or completed an application form in his life yet has never had a days unemployment either where as after being made redundant 3 times I am an expert at CVs;), have done more interviews than I care to remember, assessment days, submitted videos, created portfolios of work; you name it I have done it!
He is confident the job is his but I am trying not to get my hopes up even though I know he is perfect for the job and will do really well and has been recommended for the role by senior directors behind the scenes.
I must remember to pick up his best suit from the dry cleaners!
Busy day today; swimming lesson for DS, buy birthday gift and something to wrap it in, baking and soup making, another load of washing and tidy up again, viewing, pick up dry cleaning, dog walk, feed DH after fishing, get DS ready for party, feed DH again and relax............Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Hi kittenkirst I am making a new recipe out of my running nutrition book, converted to gluten free, it's a kind of shortbread with fresh fruit in it.
DH loves lemon drizzle. I might make some little lemon puddings from a girl called jacks book for dinner tonight. Basically lemon curd at the bottom of a ramekin and sponge on top. Delicious.

This week has been a bit mad so haven't been on the forums much.
I could have sold my house twice this week for full asking price:D, pity I didn't have a spare one in the garage :rotfl:
DH has a final interview tomorrow morning, it is between him and another chap. He will hear tomorrow night so at least he won't be stressing over the weekend. He has also been head hunted this week for another job so either way he will be moving on from his current role.
We are off to see another house on Saturday as our current purchase is not progressing at all. It is at the top of our budget and will need updating and a bit of a knock about downstairs to make it flow better. It is massive and we would certainly not need to move again.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Quick update from me:
DH didn't get the job. It appears nepotism is alive and well shall we say. He was gutted at first as he has never been turned down for anything before but is over it now and content to stay where he is as the earning potential at the other place is lower and his boss may have something else lined up for him.
We have bought the house we went to see last weekend following a 2nd viewing and it looks like we will be moving in June :j:j:D The house is massive compared to where we live now but is my dream house in style and location and needs bringing up to date which will enable us to add value. We have agreed not to do anything to it for 6 months to allow us to work out how we use the space and how the seasons effect the light etc. which will give us time to save up to do a fair bit in one go and ensure the electrics are sound.
I have, in my head, decorated all the rooms though and DH has re-designed the garden :rotfl: First job will be a massive deep clean.
I am actually looking forward to having a good sort out and use up of what we can before we move. This afternoon I am going to do a freezer and cupboard list as I am working from home and I want to really challenge us to spend as little as possible next month. The stamp duty on this house is double what it was going to be on the other house so we need to find the difference.
We are on holiday over Easter, all paid for and spending money saved. It is self catering so we will be taking most of our food with us and I will be packing the bread maker fro my GF bread, the slow cooker and lots of Easter treats! Chocolate cornflake nests anyone?:)
DH won some money on Cheltenham yesterday and wants to use it for a few meals when we are away but I would rather make my own and save it for the houseEating out when you are GF sometimes feels like Russian roulette unless you are confident in where you are eating.

Sorry to hear your dh didn't get the job
The house news is great though, how exciting and not long to prepare! I hope you have a great break at EasterMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Commiserations to your DH but congrats on the house - exciting times :T
Waiting to see how seasonal light affects the new house is such a good idea, reflecting on it I've done that before but never really thought of it so clearly - it's a top tip for my next house purchase, thanks!Life is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0 -
I've never considered the seasonal light question but draughts and cold spots are good things to get the measure of - at our house before this we addressed a really chilly area between two rooms by sourcing a fire-damaged vertical radiator that just fitted - it was four poles wide but 7 foot tall and belted out the heat and fixed it in one go! Friends of our moved in July and it was a warm day - she insisted the oil aga was ripped out and replaced before winter so she had a bright shiny new range, before realising how cold the kitchen, conservatory and dining room were in winter without it. She still moans about their "cold" house now, without appreciating that that was why the aga was there - so definitely worth "getting to know" your new place first.
Well done! and have a good Easter
