Now LastPass has sold-out

LastPass has been acquired by LogMeIn, and people are none too happy about the deal.

Passwords combined with a remote access tool! Was this buy-out sponsored by GCHQ/NSA?

I'm glad I dumped LastPass a year or so back. Now I used Keepass 2 on my machines with the encrypted database synchronised between them using Syncthing.

whoever is funding these types of deals must have big pockets, reminds me of the dotcom bubble days, but still cheaper than mse and skype.

pen and paper is far more secure, unless you read it aloud for ms cortana to digitise.

Try Dashlane. I'm trying it out and seems good so far.

Probably fine for a single machine but you need premium to sync across machines @ $39.99 a year unless there are discounts available I don't know about.

I've tried Dashlane and PasswordBox.....Neither worked in Chrome or FF for me. PasswordBox looks the most promising alternative, but as Lastpass is effortless and works in all my browsers I'm not going to panic initially. I'll figure out why PWB doesn't work - eventually - and then move over. When working it has a simple import action to move the passwords from Lastpass.
PasswordBox Premium, despite the name is totally free....

  • 1password looks pretty good, and allows you to sync between devices without the need to upload your data to "the cloud"

Quite surprised that no one's mentioned password safe,
I've been using it for ages, I sync the database over Dropbox.
    It's open source and free.
