When we start our debt free journies we focus on the big changes to be made. Cutting up credit cards. Giving up the 2nd car. Cancelling the sky and gym memberships. All of these things are good and important, but along the way it is the small daily habits we form that keep us going in the right direction. This thread is a place to log your own daily efforts to get and keep debt at bay. Examples include shopping with a list, looking for Yellow Sticker (YS) food reductions, saving your loyalty points for Christmas, searching for pennies on the streets, or logging into your banking daily. Good luck with your small things

Good morning All
As I was up anyway I thought I'd kick us off.
Condolences again to Maria on the chickens. Really sorry.
CLF - hoping you feel better in yourself today?
My own list today.
1. Use up food that MIL and FIL have very kindly shopped for this week. I came home to a lovely roast chicken meal last night. Will do stock etc over weekend.
2. Dig out 0 to 6 month gro-bag for DD. Can find 6 to 18 month one which is huge but I know this is around somewhere.
3. Use up samples from Bounty pack bag before we buy more stuff. Very useful small packs of wipes and nappies included.
4. Drink as much tap water as I can. Free and good for me.
5. Rest as much as possible to get stronger quicker.
6. Feeding DD myself so that's free.
7. Make sure DS is ready for the day. Swim bag packed. Snacks for after school pick up for OH.
8. Check online bank against spreadsheet and update spending app.
9. Pack away any gift wrap that is in a good condition from early baby gifts.
10. Consider going back to daily PAD habits.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.
Another early start and yet again she's now snoring in her basket - she is a lovely old girl but you can tell she's a ladies dog, she follows me absolutely everywhere (including the toilet, worse than kids), I fell over her twice yesterday while prepping and cooking as she was that close, funny really cos I miss her when she's gone home. Today I will:
Packed lunch for DH
Craft?

Check Banks

Morning all,
Bob - have you had the baby?! Many congratulations!! And thanks for starting the thread
Ziggy - sending big hugs. I was off work for 5 weeks earlier this year with stress/ anxiety/ depression so I can empathise. You have to believe things WILL get better even though it doesn't seem like they will at the minute :A
Hugs to everyone else going through a tough time right now
I've not posted this week as it's been manic at work and the OH had to go into hospital on Wednesday for an operation on his spine. It was scheduled so nothing out of the blue but we only found out there had been a cancellation on Monday night so it was all go. He's made really good progress and hopefully this will be the start of the rest of his life.
Not a NSD today as I'm going to the theatre tonight (pretending to be cultured!). Cheap tickets but I'll have to pay for parking in town
. I might fill up the car today so hopefully the weekend will be NSDs
Banking/ FPL/ surveys to check
Breakfast and tea from stores but it looks like I'll have to fork out for lunch  My bad as I should have prepared something last night
Busy day and work today, lots of meetings and travelling between sites - I'm going to walk or else I'll never get a parking space again! Saves fuel and is good for me at least!
Think of cheap things to do with my parents when they visit in two weeks time...

Morning all

Thanks for the start Bob, and do take it easy
Sorry to hear about your chickens Maria
I love the idea of them being free range, but sadly mine are confined to a secure run because I have lost birds to the fox before (and to human foxes too - are you sure yours was of the vulpine variety?)
Princess Pea, hope your OH continues to make a good recovery
Pup is ok (thanks for asking
) and currently killing the doorstop thingy. I am still being careful with his food, but so far so good.
List for today:
OH is home today, so find him some jobs / get him to help me with some heavy ones in the garden that I can't do on my own
Washing out on the line in a minute
Heating on, but only in the bathroom and airing cupboard
HM meals from stores
Make courgette, pea and pesto soup (from BBC Good Food site) for lunch
Make a chilli / bolognese or similar for dinner, to use up bendy veg from the fridge
Postal survey tasks / online surveys and FPL
Put a large lily in the front garden into a bigger pot (OH can help with this as it is already in quite a big, heavy pot!) This was a 50p car boot find, and now makes a spectacular show when in flower :T
Groom and exercise pup later. Try to work out if he is big and heavy enough to operate the cat flap (I have it fastened open atm, which is a bit draughty. He jumps through the hole ok, but not sure if he could do it with the flap closed)
Bundle up bean canes and put them away in garage loft (OH can climb up there too
) If we do this, then they will be fine for yet another year
Think about where to plant the kale and cabbage plants I bought at the weekend, in my miniscule and full veg plot :rotfl:
Right, off to put mince and bendy veg in the SC
Hope you all have a good day

Morning All :hello:
thanks for starting us Bob, your making me a feel a teeny bit broody
I hope the tiny small is being good for you
DNMS - I'm a landlord and I find it straightforward, I don't have a letting agency I do it myself. You can get shorthand tenancy agreements online that are mostly completed and you just fill in the blanks. Just make sure you have adequate insurance, do an inventory of anything you leave and register the deposit with one of the schemes and yes, obviously you will need to tell your mortgage provider as they have an interest in the property.
My list for today:
Meals from stores
One lot of washing already on line, another in machine at 30
Work from home, which is good as car went in for MOT yesterday and it failed on a tyre and they couldn't get it done in time so I don't have a car anyway (it's a works car so I don't need to worry about cost thankfully)
Need to investigate ordering my new work car, as mine is due for renewal, you can end up paying lots through tax an stuff so need to weigh up all the options. try and book a test drive in one today
PAD to CC
Last night I managed to (finally
) label nearly 100 items for saturday's sale, will try and do some more later or tonight
text mum to see if she can order me some meat in bulk from butcher
take boots to be heeled before winter to extend their life
use voucher form te$co orchard for free fish
Think that's about all, have a great day everyone
