This would only work if the new contract was taken out directly with O2 and not a dealer. Most, if not all, dealers do not facilitate migrations as the commission a dealer earns is considerably less than for a new network connection.

what ever you do keep clear of carphone warehouse they are a bunch of morons! i've known loads of people who have had problems with them

Unfortunately this is representative of the phone business in general. The phone industry dont seem to care about the reputation they have despite it has a regulator.
