Argos - Misleading

I think this matter should be referred to the Orwellian sounding MINISTRY OF JUSTICE.
There should be a public enquiry and Michael Mansfield should champion the cause of consumer. This blatant fascism by corporations is becoming too much.0 -
How much was the Canon, ... did it come with a USB cable?
A printer and USB cable ain't much use without a PC to go on the other end of the cable. Do Argos make it clear they don't supply the PC either for £19?

If all shops in town are selling at similarly highly inflated prices it might be considered a cartel.
Not really; included in the prices at local shops is a premium for being able to buy the cable there-and-then, take it home with you and use your new gadget, rather than having to wait a few days for a mail order to turn up. If the convenience of that isn't worth the premium, don't pay it.0 -

Personally, I don't think a premium of over £18 on a £1.20 item is acceptable but as you say it is up to the individual to make their own decision. I hope that seeing this thread will save one or two people a few pounds. That's what this site is all about, after all.0 -

who dear, me dear? How very dare you! I might be a broad-minded female but I don't wear men's undies - lol.
Not wanting to hijack op's thread, glad you got a better deal and it's made me think that when my printer packs up to make sure I save the cable!0 -

Same here, but I don't see the availability of overpriced cables on the high street as something that should be 'investigated by the authorities'. Either the investigation would be impotent, or would discourage high-street shops from selling such cables at all (which might be very inconvenient if you had an urgent requirement to use a device and had left a cable on the other side of the country by mistake...)0 -
They have been just this week in fact.A_Nice_Englishman wrote: »The price Argos (and other shops) charge for leads is extortionate and should be investigated by the authorities. A recent example on this forum was a network lead. £1.20 at ebuyer, £7.99 at Maplin and £19.99 at PC World.
