Office of Fair Trading?
If all shops in town are selling at similarly highly inflated prices it might be considered a cartel.0 -

But their not!0 -
Cable prices are truelly shocking in some of the larger retailers. I needed an ethernet cable the other week (and in a hurry at 7.30pm), cheapest I could find in our local PC World was £13.99.
Did without the internet for a night and bought one from "the pound shop" next morning. Does the job.0 -
I think the crux of the matter is that printers being sold at the sort of prices we see today are not making a profit. The manufacturers rely on customers buying their over priced print cartridges to make the profit (once the half filled ones suplied with the printer have been used). If you buy a printer at this sort of price point then you have to expect that there will be NO extras included in the packaging

Argos is good for basic prices, but extras are nearly always expensive-their prices for, say smartcards, ink cartridges,Digi tapes etc, etc they rely on people not wanting to go somewhere else, or online to get them, same with Comet, Curry etc. do your homework and get them beforehand!0
